Inside the fuel cells, hydrogen reacts with oxygen to produce electrical energy, which powers the train’s traction motors.
Pradhan publicly announced his step down on social media platform X just hours before a scheduled third round of negotiations between government representatives and student delegates.

Why the Education Minister Stepped Down

The decision follows weeks of widespread anger across India after major security lapses and systemic flaws surfaced during the conduct of national entrance tests. Student organizations rallied at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, insisting that institutional accountability had to start at the very top of the Education Ministry.

In a public statement released along with his resignation letter, Pradhan framed his decision as a step to restore order and protect candidate futures.

“I hold deep respect for the aspirations, sentiments, and rightful expectations of the youth of this country,” Pradhan wrote. He noted that his priority was ensuring that students remain focused on their academic pursuits rather than becoming trapped in prolonged legal or political disputes.

Pradhan further cautioned that the ongoing agitation across the country could be exploited by destabilizing elements if left unresolved, making his exit necessary to preserve public trust and national unity.

Jubilation at Jantar Mantar

News of the resignation reached the central protest encampment at Jantar Mantar on Saturday afternoon, instantly triggering mass celebrations among hundreds of assembled students and youth activists.

Addressing the crowd from the main demonstration stage, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke declared the move a decisive victory for youth-led democratic action.

“We have done it,” Dipke told supporters shortly after the announcement was confirmed. He emphasized that the resignation demonstrated that peaceful, sustained public assembly could hold public officials accountable regardless of political stature.

The CJP also published a brief statement across its digital channels celebrating the outcome, attributing the result to the collective persistence of students who mobilized nationwide.

Key Demands and the Government’s Response

The student-led movement had framed its charter around three non-negotiable points:

Immediate Ministerial Accountability: The official resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan from the cabinet.

Legal Protection: Complete immunity from police prosecution or criminal charges for all student activists participating in peaceful demonstrations.

Financial Relief: Direct government compensation for the families of candidates who died by suicide amid the stress and uncertainty caused by the paper leaks.

During earlier meetings on Friday, government representatives expressed willingness to grant legal protections for demonstrators and consider relief packages for affected families. However, discussions hit an impasse when federal officials initially declined to discuss a leadership change at the Education Ministry.

By Saturday morning, CJP leaders had threatened to boycott further talks entirely unless the demand for ministerial resignation was addressed. Pradhan’s subsequent exit cleared the primary obstacle to formal negotiations.

Opposition Backing and Political Fallout

What began as a localized rally quickly expanded into a nationwide political flashpoint. Opposition parties increasingly aligned themselves with the student coalition, using the paper leak revelations to challenge the administration’s management of national testing bodies.

Mass rallies held across multiple major cities over recent weeks amplified the pressure on the Union Cabinet. With parliamentary sessions approaching and public scrutiny rising over examination integrity, maintaining the political status quo became increasingly untenable for the administration.

What Lies Ahead for India’s National Exams

While Pradhan’s resignation satisfies the core political demand of the protesters, major structural questions remain regarding the administration of competitive testing in India.

The government has already initiated a central investigation into the paper leaks, ordered retests for affected candidates, and outlined plans to shift future examinations to computer-based testing (CBT) formats to prevent manual tampering.

Student representatives have signaled that while the minister’s resignation represents a milestone, their broader campaign for comprehensive institutional reforms and systemic transparency in test administration will continue.

Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down following intense, month-long nationwide student protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over paper leaks and administrative lapses in the NEET-UG examinations.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed appointment letters to more than 51,000 youth under the ‘Employment Fair’ through video conferencing.

Addressing the youth on this occasion, Prime Minister Modi praised the youth power and said that today the youth of India are showing the world through their hard work and innovation how much potential we have.

Prime Minister Modi said in his address that more than 51 thousand youth have been given permanent government job letters in various departments of the Central Government. Today, new responsibilities have started for the youth in various departments of the Government of India. Your responsibility is to strengthen the economic system of the country, your responsibility is to strengthen the internal security of the country, your responsibility is to build modern infrastructure in the country, your responsibility is to bring fundamental changes in the lives of the workers.

He said that when the youth participate in nation building, the nation also develops rapidly and makes its mark in the world. Today, the youth of India is showing the world through their hard work and innovation how much potential we have. Our government is ensuring at every step that employment and self-employment opportunities increase for the youth of the country. Today is a time of unprecedented opportunities for the youth of India. The IMF has recently said that India will continue to be the fastest growing economy in the world.

PM Modi said that in this budget, the government has announced the Manufacturing Mission. Its aim is to promote ‘Make in India’ and give an opportunity to the youth of India to make world-class products. This will not only give a boost to lakhs of MSMEs, our small entrepreneurs in the country, but will also open up new employment opportunities across the country.

Hisar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing it of changing the Waqf Act for “appeasement politics”.

He claimed that if the Waqf Board had worked as per its original objective, Muslims of India would not have been forced to live in poverty and do menial tasks like “puncture repairs”. He accused the Congress of changing the Waqf rules to benefit its vote bank at the cost of the Constitution and social justice.

Addressing a large gathering in Hisar, Prime Minister Modi said, “Congress weaponized the Constitution to grab power. During the Emergency, the spirit of the Constitution was killed to retain power. The Constitution talks about a secular civil code, but Congress never implemented it.”

Questioning the Congress’s sincerity towards the Muslim community, he said, “They say they have done this in favour of Muslims. I want to ask these vote bank hungry politicians – if they really sympathise with Muslims, why doesn’t Congress make a Muslim the party president? Why don’t they give 50 per cent of their tickets to Muslims? They don’t want to do that, but rather want to take away 50 per cent of the rights of the country.” Clarifying the basic objective of the Waqf Board, Prime Minister Modi said that its aim is to uplift the poor and marginalised Muslims, especially women.

PM Modi flags off commercial flight

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday flagged off a commercial flight from here to Ayodhya and laid the foundation stone of a new terminal building at the airport. In line with the commitment to make air travel safe, affordable and accessible to all, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of the new terminal building at Maharaja Agarsen Airport. It will be constructed at an estimated cost of over Rs 410 crore. It will include a state-of-the-art passenger terminal, a cargo terminal and an ATC building. The project is targeted to be completed in two years.

Tariff on India: A day after imposing it on India, America has also reduced the tariff. If we look at the White House documents, we can see that the tariff imposed on India has been reduced by 1 percent. Although this will not have much impact, now the effective tariff has become 26 percent.

US President Donald Trump has created a stir all over the world by starting a tariff war. He had also announced to impose 27 percent tariff on India but within 24 hours he also reduced it. According to the document released by the White House, the Trump administration has reduced the tariff imposed on India. The documents show that only India has been given this relief from the tariff imposed by the US on 60 countries of the world.

According to White House documents, the US has reduced the 27 percent tariff imposed on India to 26 percent. This tariff will come into effect from April 9 and will be imposed on all goods exported from India to the US. Earlier, while announcing the retaliatory duty, Donald Trump showed a chart showing that now India, China, UK and the European Union will have to pay duty on all their exports. The tariff on India has been reduced by 1 percent because the US has imposed only 50 percent of the tariff imposed by it on each country. If India collects 52 percent, it should have been imposed at the rate of 26 percent but it was imposed at 27 percent by mistake.

Tariff reform or relaxation

The chart released by the US shows that India collects 52 percent duty, which includes currency manipulation and trade barriers, and now the US will collect a concessional retaliatory duty of 26 percent from India. Earlier, the White House documents showed a 27 percent duty on India. It has been updated and reduced to 26 percent. However, looking at the documents, it seems that the US has not given this relaxation in the tariff, but has improved it. Anyway, industry experts say that a reduction of one percent will not have much impact.

US is the largest trading partner

The US was India’s largest trading partner from 2021-22 to 2023-24. The US accounts for about 18 per cent of India’s total textile exports, 6.22 per cent of imports and 10.73 per cent of bilateral trade. With the US, India’s trade surplus (difference between imports and exports) in textiles in 2023-24 was $35.32 billion. It was $27.7 billion in 2022-23, $32.85 billion in 2021-22, $22.73 billion in 2020-21 and $17.26 billion in 2019-20.

What makes the most exports

India’s major exports to the US in 2024 included pharmaceutical manufacturing and biological products ($8.1 billion), telecommunications equipment ($6.5 billion), precious and semi-precious stones ($5.3 billion), petroleum products ($4.1 billion), gold and others included precious metal jewelry ($3.2 billion), cotton ready-made garments including accessories ($2.8 billion) and iron and steel products ($2.7 billion). Similarly, imports included crude oil ($4.5 billion), petroleum products ($3.6 billion), coal, coke ($3.4 billion), cut and polished diamonds ($2.6 billion), electrical machinery ($1.4 billion), aircraft, spacecraft and their parts ($1.3 billion) and gold ($1.3 billion).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Vande Bharat train from Katra to Srinagar on April 19. The 272 km long Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway link project has been completed.

The dream of connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country through rail route is going to be fulfilled soon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the first train from Katra to Srinagar on 19 April. Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed this and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat train from Katra on 19 April. Kashmir is going to get this gift after the completion of the 272 km long Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway link project to connect Kashmir with other parts of the country.

The Jammu-Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express will start from Katra as the Jammu railway station is currently being renovated. According to officials, this railway link project was completed last month. Train trials have been successfully conducted on the Katra-Baramulla route. The Railway Safety Commissioner (CRS) approved the train service between Katra and Kashmir in January this year.

Travel time will be reduced

Officials say that the launch of Vande Bharat Express will reduce the travel time between Jammu and Srinagar significantly and will provide a modern and efficient rail service to the region. There was a demand for a direct rail service to Kashmir for many decades, which will be fulfilled with the launch of this train. Currently, train service is available only from Sangaldan to Baramulla in the Kashmir Valley, while trains run from Katra to other parts of the country.

The ambitious project to connect Kashmir by rail was started in 1997

, but it was delayed several times due to geography, climate and geographical challenges. The project has a total of 38 tunnels, with a length of 119 km. These include India’s longest transport tunnel, the 12.75 km long Tunnel T-49.

Apart from this, 927 bridges have been built, whose total length is 13 km. The most special among these is the Chenab Bridge, which is 1,315 meters long and its arch span is 467 meters. This bridge is 359 meters high from the river bed, that is, 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower. It is the world’s highest arch railway bridge.

Srinagar Vande Bharat is very special.

According to the Railway Ministry, the Vande Bharat Express running in Kashmir will be different from the Vande Bharat trains running in other parts of the country. It has been designed to run smoothly in temperatures up to -20 degrees Celsius. Advanced heating systems have been installed in the train for the convenience of passengers and drivers. According to the Railway Ministry, the Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat train has been specially designed for extremely cold areas. On this route, a snow-clearing train will run before passenger and goods trains, so that this rail route can remain operational throughout the year, day and night. This train will ensure uninterrupted rail service between Jammu and Kashmir in all seasons.

Keeping in mind the safety and comfort of passengers, anti-vibration seismic devices have been installed in this project, as this area falls in earthquake sensitive Zone-V. These devices will work to absorb the tremors in the Himalayan region, which will make train travel faster and safer. Heated windshield in the driver cabin, so that there will be no problem of fog or ice formation in the winter and visibility will remain intact. Bio-toilets and heating system in pipes, so that water does not freeze and the essential facilities of the train keep working even in the cold.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of two corridors under the fourth phase of Delhi Metro today. This program will be held at JLN Stadium. The new metro route will connect Indralok to Indraprastha and Lajpat Nagar to Saket G block. The total length of both the routes is more than 20 km. With the start of the new route, connectivity will increase and about 2.5 lakh people will benefit from it.

The Union Cabinet led by PM Modi approved this project on Wednesday. This will bring big changes in the infrastructure of cities. A total of Rs 8,399 crore will be spent on these two corridors. Out of this, the Central Government will raise Rs 4,309 crore, the remaining money will be raised through Delhi Government and international funding.

Indralok-Indraprastha corridor is being prepared as an extension of the Green Line. It will cross six other lines, which will increase the connectivity of the entire network. On the other hand, Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor will be completely elevated and it will connect four lines.
