School Holidays: Holidays in primary schools of UP have been extended by 15 more days. Now schools in Uttar Pradesh will remain closed till June 30. Schools in UP are to open from June 16, but the government has accepted the demand of teachers and parents to extend the holidays due to the continuously increasing heat.

The Yogi government of UP has taken the decision to extend the school holidays due to the ongoing heat wave and increasing heat in the state. However, teachers will have to go to school from June 16.

There is intense heat in many states of the country including Uttar Pradesh. In UP too, the temperature is constantly crossing 45 degrees Celsius. In such circumstances, sending children to school has become a cause of concern for parents. In view of the scorching heat, now the teachers’ organizations are demanding the government to extend the summer holidays till June 30.

Schools were to open from June 16

At present, the council schools of UP are closed due to summer vacations. According to the previously announced schedule, these schools were to open on June 16. Now when the heat wave continues and the temperature is constantly rising, both teachers and parents have started worrying about the health of the children. This is the reason why everyone was demanding the government to extend the school holidays.

Teachers’ organizations submitted a letter of demand

In view of the scorching heat, representatives of the Uttar Pradesh Prathmik Shikshak Sangh and Vishisht BTC Shikshak Welfare Association recently met the Basic Education Minister and departmental officials. During this, they submitted a demand letter, in which it was recommended to extend the school holidays till June 30. According to Vinay Tiwari, President of the Teachers’ Union, children may have to face severe heat at this time, which is affecting their health. He said that opening schools right now is not in the interest of children.

A letter was also written to the Chief Minister

The heat is increasing continuously and now the mercury has gone above 45 degrees. In such a situation, opening schools is neither safe nor in the interest of children. On this occasion, teacher organizations put forward another demand. They said that the government has included only 15 districts regarding the transfer policy, whereas teachers should get a chance for transfer in other districts as well.

School Holiday List April 2025 : April 2025 is full of holidays for students and parents. The new academic session has started in April. In April, schools will be closed for 6 days only due to holidays.

This does not include weekend holidays. Schools will be closed in April due to many religious and cultural festivals. Major festivals related to Hindu, Jain and Christian religions, Ram Navami, Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday will be celebrated in the month of April, due to which there will be a holiday in schools. However, it is important to note that the educational board of each state decides its list of holidays separately. Therefore, parents are advised to check the official holiday list of their state or school.

List of major school holidays for April 2025

6 April (Sunday) – Ram Navami

Ram Navami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Shri Ram. Lord Ram was born in Ayodhya on the ninth day of the Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. On this day, fasting, worship in temples, Bhajan-Kirtan and Ramayana recitation are organized. Processions are also taken out in many parts of the country. This day is an important holiday for schools.

April 10 (Thursday) – Mahavir Jayanti

The birth anniversary of Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, is celebrated with great reverence throughout the country. This day is the biggest festival for the Jain community. On this day, charity, penance, fasting and processions are organized. Lord Mahavira taught to adopt principles like non-violence, truth, non-possession and celibacy. Most schools remain closed on this festival as well.

April 11 (Friday) – Mahatma Jyotiba Phule’s Birth Anniversary

The birth anniversary of social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule is mainly celebrated in Maharashtra. He struggled throughout his life for women’s education and the upliftment of the Dalit class. Many schools and government institutions remain closed on this day.

13 April (Sunday) – Baisakhi

Baisakhi is a major harvest festival celebrated especially in Punjab and North India. It is also important for the Sikh community as Guru Gobind Singh founded the Khalsa Panth on this day in 1699. Fairs, tableaus and religious events characterise the day.

14 April (Monday) – Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti

Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s birth anniversary is celebrated across the country as a symbol of social justice and equality. This day is a holiday in schools, colleges and government offices.

April 18 (Friday) – Good Friday

Good Friday is a very important day for the Christian community, when the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is remembered. This day is of mourning and introspection. Special prayers and fasting are held in churches. In many states of India, it is a public holiday and schools are also closed.

29 April (Tuesday) – Parashurama Jayanti

On the birth anniversary of Parashurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, worship and religious events are held in many parts of the country. Holidays may also be declared in schools on this day.

The holidays given above are generally valid across the country, but some festivals and holidays may be limited to only a few states. For example, the list of regional holidays like Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Bihu etc. is decided by the state government. Students and parents must check the academic calendar issued by their school.

The month of March is going on and the festival of Holi is very close. Holika Dahan is on March 13 and Holi of colors is on March 14. Because Holi is one of the biggest festivals of the country.

Therefore, schools-colleges, government institutions and banks will remain closed in many parts of the country on this occasion. However, this holiday is not across the country. Work will be as usual in some places.

The Uttar Pradesh Primary Education Department has approved the list of holidays for the festival of Holi. Now schools will have 3 days off for Holi instead of 2 days and since the next day i.e. 16th March is Sunday, there will be a total of 4 days off. Schools across the state are included under this decision.

Earlier, there was a holiday only on March 13 and March 14, but on the request of Legislative Council member Babulal Tiwari, a holiday has also been declared on March 15. This holiday has been given on the basis of departmental religious demand. In this regard, a letter has been issued by Uttar Pradesh Primary Education Council Secretary Surendra Kumar Tiwari.

Let us tell you that the government had declared two days of holiday in the list of holidays in 2025. Now, due to the declaration of holiday on March 15, schools will remain closed for four consecutive days because March 16 is Sunday. Therefore, now schools will open on Monday i.e. 17th.

Holi holiday in Punjab is scheduled to fall on March 14. Since Holi falls on a Friday and most government institutions remain closed on the following Saturday and Sunday, many people in the state can enjoy three holidays.

All the government and private schools will remain closed. For example, let us tell you that in the districts adjoining Prayagraj, these holidays have been declared only on Mauni Amavasya i.e. 29 January. Even during the Maha Kumbh Mela, practical examinations will be held on their scheduled time.

It has been clarified through the District School Inspector that these examinations will not be postponed, proper guidance and information will be provided to the students and their parents for the examination. An appeal has also been made to the parents for cooperation. The administration has appealed to the parents to help the children fully during online studies and ensure that it is the responsibility of the departments that the children attend their classes on time and concentrate on their studies.

There is a plan to make the traffic system easier

It was also informed through the District Magistrate that an important decision has been taken to make the traffic system even easier. Due to the arrival of lakhs of devotees in the Maha Kumbh Mela, there may be a huge crowd on the roads, due to which traffic may also increase, due to which keeping the schools closed and doing online studies is being considered an effective step of the administration. Online studies to be implemented during the Maha Kumbh are going to prove to be a new learning process for the students. This export is being considered an important step to give further encouragement to digital education.

School Holidays, Winter Vacation 2024- Winter has started showing its effect even before the end of December. With the drop in temperature in Delhi NCR, dense fog has started appearing in the morning and night.

Due to the implementation of Grade 4 in Delhi, schools in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad have been put in hybrid mode. The holiday dates have been announced in Punjab. Students from states like UP, MP, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, Jharkhand etc. are also waiting for the latest update about the winter vacations.

Winter season has arrived in most states of North India. Most schools will be closed from Christmas i.e. 25th December 2024 (Winter Vacation 2024). Many schools have given relief to the students by changing their timings from the second week of December.

School Holidays in MP: School timings changed in Bhind

Amidst the severe cold, the Collector of Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, Sanjeev Srivastava, has issued new orders. Now classes will be held in Bhind schools from 9 am to 5 pm. This decision has been taken in view of the ongoing cold wave in Madhya Pradesh and it has been implemented for every class from nursery to 12th. The Collector has issued these orders keeping in mind the health of all the students studying in government and private schools.

Rajasthan School Winter Vacation: When will schools close in Rajasthan?

Winter vacations usually start in Rajasthan schools from December 25. But this time the new week is starting from December 23. In such a situation, there is confusion about the winter vacations in Rajasthan schools. Whether the winter vacations will start from December 25 or not, it has not been decided yet. In fact, recently Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar had said that it is not mandatory to start the winter vacations from December 25 itself. The decision about the winter vacations will be taken keeping in mind the weather.

Delhi Schools Closed: What is the situation in Delhi?

Grade 4 has been implemented in Delhi. Due to this, schools have been ordered to run in hybrid mode. If schools want, they can decide on online and offline classes keeping in mind the resources and other factors (winter vacations in Delhi schools). The timings of schools have been changed in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Gurugram and Faridabad. Many classes from nursery to class 5 are being run in online mode only.

UP School Holidays: When will the winter vacations start in Uttar Pradesh?

Updates regarding winter vacations are awaited in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh. Schools located in most of the states are running after 9 am these days. This is expected to give relief to the children from the morning cold.

Whether you attend a government school or a private school, you are going to have fun on the second Saturday of every month. Because schools will be closed on the second Saturday of every month from now on. This decision of the state government is no less than a great news for children. Naib Singh Saini’s government has issued orders in this regard.

According to this, there will be a holiday on the second Saturday of the month in the government and private schools of Haryana. The education department’s order clearly states that it is being implemented in all government and private schools of the state from November 9, 2024.

If you open the school, you will have to pay the penalty!

In the instructions issued by the Haryana Education Directorate, it has been said that such orders were issued earlier as well. But most of the schools are not following it. It has been observed that during gazetted or other holidays some schools call students to school for activities other than studies, which is wrong. Therefore, all the district education officials have been ordered not to call the students to school during the holidays under any pretext. Otherwise action will be taken by the Education Department.

The directorate has also said that if any school violates the order, the matter will be referred to higher authorities for departmental action. If any action is taken in this matter, the head and management of the school concerned will be responsible for it.
