New Bank Note: After making a big bet on Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, the Reserve Bank has now set its sights on smaller denomination notes. RBI is soon going to issue new notes of Rs 50, Rs 100 and Rs 200. Along with the signature of the new governor, it will have many more security features.
New Delhi- Soon your note is going to change once again. This time RBI has said about issuing new notes of 100 and 200 rupees. RBI told on Tuesday what changes are going to be made in these new notes of 100 and 200 rupees. Earlier, the Reserve Bank had issued new notes of 500 rupees, while the old 1,000 rupee note was discontinued.
The RBI said it will soon issue Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes bearing the signature of new Governor Sanjay Malhotra. The design of these notes is similar to the existing Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes of the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series. All Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes issued by the Reserve Bank earlier will remain legal tender and will not be withdrawn from circulation.
Malhotra took over the post
Sanjay Malhotra took over as RBI Governor in December 2024 after former Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das stepped down. Earlier, Das’s tenure was extended. He took over as the 26th Governor of RBI. Malhotra is a 1990 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre. Currently, he has been appointed for a period of 3 years.
New notes of Rs 50 will also be issued.
RBI has earlier announced the issuance of a new note of Rs 50. The central bank says that these new notes will also have the signature of Governor Sanjay Malhotra. The picture of Mahatma Gandhi of the new series will also be printed on these notes. New security features will be installed on this note, so that it becomes difficult to copy it and the increasing spread of fake notes in the country can be stopped.
Why is RBI changing all the notes?
Earlier, by increasing the security features of Rs 500 notes, it was kept safe from counterfeit notes and now RBI is also changing the small denomination notes. The Reserve Bank has recently said that new notes of Rs 50, 100 and 200 will be issued. These notes will not only bear the signature of the new Governor Sanjay Malhotra, but their security features will also be enhanced. Especially the new series of photos of Mahatma Gandhi which is considered very difficult to copy.
