What is the difference between backlog and regular vacancies?

There are generally two types of vacancies in any organization – regular and backlog. Regular vacancies are the most common. These recruitments are made when the post falls vacant due to someone’s retirement or transfer to another city or department. Most of the recruitments are made on regular vacancies.

Backlog vacancies are for those posts which have remained vacant due to lack of eligible candidates during the previous recruitment. These posts are also open in the current year, i.e. if 5 out of 6 posts are found eligible for last year, then one post remaining vacant will be recruited this year also. Also, if the selected candidate does not join on the joining date due to any reason, then backlog posts remain. Out of 6589 clerk recruitments of SBI, 5180 are regular and 1409 are backlog.

What is the eligibility criteria?

Candidates between the ages of 20 and 28 can apply for these posts. The date of birth of the candidate should be between 2 April 1997 and 1 April 2005. However, as per the rules, there is relaxation in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to some reserved categories.

In addition, the candidate must be a graduate from a recognized institution. If a candidate is in the final semester or year of his graduation, then after being selected, he will have to show proof of passing his graduation examination on or before 31 December 2025.

What will be the selection process?

Candidates will be recruited on the basis of the scores of three exams. Two of these exams will be conducted online. First, there will be a one-hour pre-examination, in which the candidate will be asked objective i.e. multiple choice questions of 100 marks. This will be followed by a main exam. In which 190 questions will be asked for 200 marks. This exam will be of 2 hours and 40 minutes duration. Both the pre and main exams will be conducted online.

After the main exam, there will also be a local language proficiency test, which will be based on the local language. This test will be of 20 marks. If someone knows the local language, then he will not have to give this test.

How much is the application fee?

To apply for the recruitment, candidates belonging to General, OBC and EWS categories will have to pay Rs 750. There is no application fee for SC, ST and Divyang candidates.

Apart from this, from time to time, State Bank keeps advising its customers to avoid any fraud. According to the recent message sent by the State Bank, if anyone asks you to click through the message, never click on such unknown links.

Nor share your personal details with anyone. If any cyber fraud happens to you, then you should file a complaint against these cyber frauds on 1930.
