An Economic Times report quoting sources said that Tata Consultancy Services will freeze the recruitment of employees at the senior level and will also stop the annual salary hike. According to sources, there is no recruitment of senior employees at the moment. As per its new policy, the Tata Group company has started removing hundreds of retired employees in Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and Kolkata in a phased manner. Under the new policy, now employees will have to find a new project within 35 days or leave the job.

According to the report of the National Statistical Organization (NSO), 11 lakh jobs were created in the manufacturing sector in the financial year 2022, which has increased to 13 lakh in the financial year 2023. Maharashtra is the best performing state in the manufacturing sector. It is followed by Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.

DGCA: Aviation regulator DGCA today approved the merger of AIX Connect with Air India Express. Sources said on Thursday that the decision of salary hike will be effective from April 1, 2024, while bonus is also being given to the employees on the basis of performance in the financial year 2023-24. The company has increased the salary by up to Rs 15000. Along with this, an annual bonus of up to Rs 1.8 lakh will be given which will be based on the performance of the employee.

According to sources, Air India’s Chief Human Resources Officer Ravindra Kumar GP announced salary hike and performance bonus to the employees. The airline has around 18,000 employees. However, it was not immediately known what was the extent of this salary hike.

This is the first salary hike for Air India employees after the control of Air India passed from the government to the Tata Group in January 2022. Last year, only the work of contract restructuring and compensation of old employees was done.

Sources said that apart from the salary hike scheduled for FY 2023-24, the airline has also introduced a component of annual target performance bonus for its pilots based on company and individual performance which will be effective from FY 2024-25.

iPhone assembly partner Wistron Corporation on Friday announced that its subsidiaries SMS Infocom (Singapore) Pte Ltd and Wistron Hong Kong Ltd will sign a share purchase agreement with Tata Electronics. This agreement will be to purchase 100% indirect stake in Wistron Infocom Manufacturing (India) Private Limited. After the deal is signed and necessary regulatory approvals are received, Tata Electronics will start manufacturing iPhones at Wistron’s Karnataka plant.

Appeal to cancel the license suspension order

On the other hand, in this whole matter, the employees’ organizations have appealed to the DGCA to cancel the suspension of the pilot. A joint forum of six employees’ organizations in the aviation sector appealed to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to cancel the order suspending the license of the chief pilot of the aircraft in the Air India urine scandal. The DGCA had imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on Air India in connection with the incident of a passenger allegedly urinating on a female co-traveller during a New York-Delhi flight.

Apart from this, a fine of Rs 3 lakh was also imposed on the Director of Flight Services of Air India for failing to discharge his duties in the context of this incident which took place on November 26, 2022. In a letter sent to the DGCA, the joint forum, citing various aspects, appealed to the DGCA to withdraw the suspension and strict punishment of the chief pilot.

The organizations making the appeal include Indian Pilots Guild, Indian Commercial Pilots Association, Air Corporation Employees Union, Air India Employees Association, All India Cabin Crew Association and Airline Pilots Association of India. The Joint Forum has sent this letter when Air India said that the investigation in the said matter has been closed.
