Regarding the process of transferring the land given by six Gram Panchayats to the Forest Department, the administration has sent the proposal to the higher officials in Chandigarh for approval.

As stated in the notification, if a person travels on a highway, expressway, tunnel or bridge, then the journey up to 20 km will be free. This means that no toll tax will have to be paid, but if a person travels more than 20 km, then the toll will be charged according to the distance travelled. This means that toll will be charged for the entire distance.

Trial done on these highways

The Ministry of Road Transport said in July that it has decided to implement satellite-based toll collection on selected national highways on a pilot basis as an additional facility with Fastag. This system has been trialed on the Bengaluru-Mysore section of NH-275 in Karnataka and the Panipat-Hisar section of NH-709 in Haryana.

NHAI said in the statement that the government had made FASTag mandatory in 2021 in February. After that, toll plazas under the Fastag program increased from 770 to 1,228. This includes 339 state toll plazas. In this ‘Fastag Radio-Frequency Identification’ (RFID) technology is used.

NHAI said that after effective use in toll collection, FASTag has facilitated payment in more than 140 parking lots in more than 50 cities of the country.
