Q: When does the UAE officially leave OPEC?Now, the exit takes effect on May 1, 2026. Thus, the country will be free from group quotas by next week.

The Bottom Line

Now the UAE OPEC Exit of 2026 marks a new chapter in global power. While the group has led the market for years, the UAE is now betting on its own strength.

UAE Golden Visa: UAE is a place where many people wish to go, and some people also want to settle there. Although this is very difficult, but now UAE has given a lot of relaxation in this.

UAE has now introduced a new ‘Nomination Based Golden Visa’, under which eligible Indian citizens can get permission to stay forever. However, for this you will have to pay a hefty amount. A system has been created by UAE that now if you pay 1 lakh dirham i.e. 23.30 lakh rupees, you will get a golden visa.

Earlier, to get a Golden Visa, Indians had to buy property worth at least 20 lakh dirhams (approximately Rs 4.66 crore) inside the UAE. Or you had to make a big investment, but now this new method has made this work very easy.

Currently, India-Bangladesh have been included in the first phase of testing of this nomination based golden visa. Before the start of this visa, you will also be subjected to strict scrutiny. The candidate’s criminal record or things like money laundering and social media profile will be looked into carefully.

The matter does not end here, it will also be seen how you can contribute to the UAE economy. It will be seen what you can do for art, business, science or any other profession.

If anyone wants to apply for this visa, then they can apply at One VASCO centers or Rayad Group offices as well as through online portals. There is no need to go to Dubai for this, you can get approval in your own country.

Apart from all this, this visa will be permanent, whereas earlier the Golden Visa was based on property and it used to expire when you sold or distributed the property. But this is not the case under the new system.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expanded the visa on arrival program for Indian citizens. Now it also includes Indians holding valid visas, residence permits and green cards of six more countries.

It has been implemented from this month. From February 13, 2025, Indian passport holders with valid documents of Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Canada will also be eligible for visa on arrival in the UAE. Visa on arrival is a facility in which passengers can enter a country even if they do not have a visa. This facility makes foreign travel easier.

According to ET report, this move of UAE will increase residence and employment opportunities for Indians in cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It will also prove helpful in strengthening UAE as a global hub. Earlier this policy in UAE was applicable only to Indian citizens holding valid documents of US, EU member countries and UK. Now UAE has expanded this program to include six countries – Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. This will make it easier for Indians living or working in these countries to travel to UAE.

What will be the visa eligibility?

To be eligible for visa on arrival in the UAE, travellers must hold an ordinary passport with a validity of at least six months. They must pay the applicable visa fee as per UAE rules. The visa fee for a 14-day stay in the UAE is 100 dirhams. This can be extended for an additional 14 days at a cost of 250 dirhams. Apart from this, a 60-day visa can also be obtained for 250 dirhams.

The initiative aims to make it easier for Indians to come to the UAE. It will also help the UAE’s tourism and economy. ICP, the body responsible for UAE citizenship, customs and port security, said it will attract top global talent and entrepreneurs. The decision is expected to encourage skilled professionals and entrepreneurs to seek opportunities in the UAE.

India has also signed visa exemption agreements for diplomatic and official passport holders with several countries, including the UAE. This exempts such passport holders from visa requirements for stays of up to 90 days. This is for government officials and diplomats who travel on official work.

UAE has stopped issuing visas to Pakistani citizens. This has been confirmed by Pakistani Ambassador to UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi himself. Many Pakistani citizens have also complained on social media about not getting UAE visa. It has now been told why UAE has banned visas for Pakistanis.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has stopped giving visas to Pakistani citizens. Many Pakistani citizens are facing visa problems to go to UAE. Even Pakistani celebrities and businessmen are not able to get UAE visas. Pakistan’s ambassador to UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi has also admitted that Pakistanis are facing a lot of difficulty in getting UAE visas. On social media, common people of Pakistan are also complaining that they are not getting UAE visas.

What did the Pakistani ambassador say

The Pakistani Embassy in the UAE has posted a video from its x (Twitter) account. In this post, Pakistani Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi is saying, “Efforts are being made to resolve the issue of Pakistanis not getting visas. If a visa is to be obtained, Pakistanis must have return tickets, hotel bookings and 3000 dirhams. We have also told the FIA that those people who can be seen on their faces that they do not have work visas and are not going for tourism but for some other purpose, not only stop them but also ban them.”

Why did UAE impose ban on Pakistanis

In fact, Pakistani citizens were involved in violating visa rules by going to the UAE. They were accused of misbehaving on social media, traveling using fake documents and indulging in criminal activities in the UAE. According to Dawn News, UAE officials expressed these complaints during a meeting between the Pakistani ambassador to the UAE and local officials. The UAE Cabinet proposed a ban on Pakistani citizens based on these issues. This has been shared by the Pakistani Embassy with Islamabad in official documents.

Pakistanis are violating the laws of UAE

UAE officials highlighted several reasons for the rising tensions, including the alleged involvement of Pakistani nationals in political activities and protests within the country, which is a direct violation of Emirati laws. Additionally, social media posts by some Pakistanis criticising UAE government policies have reportedly fuelled unrest. Cases of document fraud such as fake degree verification and forged identity cards and passports were reported among job seekers.

Involvement in Pakistani criminal activities

Officials also flagged a greater involvement of Pakistani nationals in criminal activities, including theft, fraud, begging, prostitution and drug-related crimes, compared to other expatriate communities. The UAE’s zero-tolerance policy towards activities that compromise security and stability underscores the seriousness of these issues. The UAE said these issues were discussed in a Cabinet meeting, resulting in the imposition of visa restrictions on Pakistani nationals.

The post Why did UAE ban Pakistani citizens, not giving visa, know the reason first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

The government on Wednesday announced ‘curbs’ on the import of some gold jewelery and other items. This step will help in curbing the import of some non-essential items.

Now the importer will have to obtain license permission from the government to import these gold products. However, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has clarified that these restrictions will not apply to imports under the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The DGFT said in a notification that the policy on import of these products has been revised from ‘free’ to ‘restricted’ with immediate effect. India is the largest importer of gold. The demand of the country’s jewelery industry is met by the import of gold. In terms of quantity, India imports 800-900 tonnes of gold annually.

Import of precious gems decreased

Import of pearls and precious gems decreased by 25.36 percent to $4 billion during April-May period of the current financial year. During this period, the import of gold has also decreased by 40 percent to $ 4.7 billion. It was mainly imported from countries like UAE, Indonesia and USA.

Merchandise imports also decreased

During April-May in the current financial year, total merchandise imports decreased by 10.24 percent to US $ 107 billion. The merchandise trade deficit for April-May 2023 stood at US$ 37.26 billion as against US$ 40.48 billion during April-May 2022.

Import duty on gold increased

Due to global economic uncertainties, India’s gold import has decreased by 24.15 percent to $ 35 billion in 2022-23. In the last financial year i.e. 2021-22, the import of yellow metal was $ 46.2 billion. During the last financial year 2022-23, the export of gems and jewelery decreased by three percent to about $ 38 billion. To curb the current account deficit (CAD), the government last year raised the import duty on gold from 10.75 per cent to 15 per cent.

The post Government bans import of some gold jewellery, also amends import policy first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.
