Leaving A Job Early? This EPFO Form Saves Your Pension

Many workers make a big mistake when they switch jobs. Specifically, they take their pension cash early instead of saving their service years. While a small payout feels good now, it can hurt your future safety. Therefore, the EPFO Scheme Certificate is the best way to protect your retirement goals.

What is an EPFO Scheme Certificate?

The EPFO gives this paper to workers who leave a job before 10 years. Specifically, this official document tracks your “pension years” for the government. Instead of taking a cash payout, you carry these years to your next job. Currently, you must hit 10 years of total service to get a monthly pension for life.

Why Choose the Certificate Over Cash?

Most people pick the “Withdrawal Benefit” to get a quick payment of Rs 20,000. However, this choice resets your work history back to zero. Specifically, you will have to start your 10-year count all over again. Meanwhile, if you keep the Scheme Certificate, those years stay on your record. This helps you get a monthly pension of Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 later in life.

Benefits for Your Family

The Scheme Certificate does more than just save your years. Specifically, it provides a “Family Pension” if a worker passes away suddenly. This safety net stays on even if you are between jobs. Furthermore, if you work for 20 years, the EPFO adds two extra years to your record. This bonus raises your final monthly pay when you turn 58.

Millions of workers will soon see their retirement savings grow. Today, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is moving to credit annual interest for 2026. This boost helps salaried staff build a bigger nest egg without any risk.

How the 2026 Interest Credit Works

Recently, reports showed how a ₹6 lakh balance earns about ₹52,000. Specifically, the government must first approve the final interest rate for the year. Then, the EPFO sends the money to your individual account. In fact, this process is fully automatic once the board gives the green light. Therefore, you do not need to apply to get your share.

Now, remember that the interest rate often stays near 8.2 percent. Next, the board of trustees meets to finalize the exact number for 2026. As a result, the final payout might change slightly based on their choice. Still, the returns remain some of the best for safe debt tools.

Calculating Your Specific PF Gains

First, look at your total year-end balance to guess your earnings. For example, a ₹5 lakh balance yields roughly ₹43,000 in interest. Later, compare this to a ₹6 lakh balance which brings in ₹52,000. Finally, use the official UAN portal to see your actual credited amount.

Today, the EPFO uses a monthly running balance to fix the interest. This means your monthly contributions help increase the final payout you see. Thus, staying in the scheme for a long time pays off well. In fact, compound growth is the secret to a large retirement fund.

Reality Check

Reality Check: Headlines often highlight “big payouts” like ₹52,000 to grab eyes. Still, the math only works if you already have a high balance. In 2025, many young workers felt let down by their small interest credits. Therefore, they did not realize the payout depends entirely on their current savings. Meanwhile, the EPFO portal often faces technical glitches during high-traffic days. Yet, officials insist the system is ready for the 2026 surge.

The Loopholes

The Loopholes: Interest earned on yearly contributions above ₹2.5 lakh is now taxable. In fact, this rule hits high earners the hardest in 2026. Additionally, if an account stays inactive for 36 months, it may stop earning interest. Therefore, you must ensure your UAN stays linked to an active job.

What This Means for You

Recently, the EPFO made it easier to track your money via SMS. Now, you can simply send a text to check your status. First, ensure your mobile number is linked to your UAN. Then, download your passbook to verify every monthly entry. Indeed, keeping an eye on your fund prevents future surprises.

Next Steps

Check your PF balance right now using the “Missed Call” service. Then, verify if your employer has deposited all dues for the current fiscal year. Would you like me to provide the specific SMS format and number for the EPFO balance check?

EPF Update: You Could Be Getting Twenty-Eight Thousand Rupees. Seriously.

Listen up. We’re talking about PF employees across the country—the numbers are going up every year. All those private companies? They set up these PF accounts, and the whole thing is monitored by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, the EPFO. The thing is, the Central Government hands out interest every single year. And they’re about to talk interest rates again. Soon.

This time, there’s heavy chatter. We’re hearing interest rates could go up to 9.25%. Seriously, 9.25%. There are all sorts of discussions behind closed doors about the numbers. But if that 9.25% is approved for PF employees? A substantial chunk of money could land in their accounts. It all depends on how much you’ve already saved, of course, the size of your EPF pot. Let’s look at the numbers—the messy part—to see how much you could actually be getting.

So, What’s the Interest Tally Going to Be?

The Central Government could very well approve a 9.25% rate for the financial years 2025 and 2026. Here’s the kicker: That rate is one full percentage point higher than last year’s. That’s a massive boost for employees, or nothing makes sense. Last time around, they only transferred 8.25% interest.

Now, let’s do the math. Just for example, if an employee has a solid ₹3 lakh sitting in their PF account? You could be looking at earning up to ₹28,000 in interest. That’s a significant hit.

The interest calculation is pretty straightforward: it’s based on your total EPF balance. More money in there? More interest, obviously. Less money? Less interest. Simple. Let’s be real, nobody has officially announced the final number yet. It’s still a rumor, but a strong one. The government is expected to open its coffers and make the announcement sometime during the general budget session. X happened (the rumor started). And then Y followed (we started running the numbers).

Who Benefits? And How to Check

A massive, massive number of PF employees are going to benefit from this interest announcement. According to one report, we’re talking about more than 75 million employees. That’s crazy. This money, this “significant gift,” as they call it, is transferred directly to your EPF accounts.

The process is ongoing, but you can check what you’ve earned right from your sofa. You don’t need to panic about checking the balance. If your mobile number is linked to your UAN, you can get the info easy, simple method.

You literally just need to give a missed call to 011-22901406. A few seconds later? The balance information hits your phone via SMS. No logging in, no passwords. It’s quick.

EPFO New Rules: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made an important change regarding the Universal Account Number (UAN). The EPFO has decided that from August 1, 2025, the new UAN will now be generated or allotted only through Aadhaar-based Face Authentication Technology (FAT) through the UMANG app. This decision has been taken so that the process of UAN generation is completely error-free, automated and reliable.

What is UAN and why is it important?

UAN i.e. Universal Account Number is allotted by EPFO. This number is given to every employee who works in an institution covered under the Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme, 1952. UAN works as an identity for employees. Whenever an employee changes jobs, the Member IDs given by the new employers get linked to the same UAN. Since this UAN remains valid for the entire career of the person, it is very important to generate it accurately and securely.

How was UAN made till now?

Till now, employees had to either apply through their employer or use other digital means to obtain UAN. But many times problems like errors in data entry, identity related mistakes or delay in verification of documents were faced. To eliminate these reasons, EPFO has decided to implement a full-proof digital system.

What is the new system of EPFO?

EPFO has decided that now the new UAN will be generated only through UMANG app and for this, face authentication technology (FAT) linked to Aadhaar card will be used. In this process, the member will have to install UMANG app and Aadhaar Face RD App on his smartphone. After this, your identity will be verified with UIDAI (Aadhaar database) through face scan on the app and UAN will be generated.

In a circular issued on July 30, 2025, the EPFO said, “In order to ensure error-free generation of UAN, it has been decided that from August 1, 2025, new UAN will be generated/allotted only through Aadhaar-based face authentication in the UMANG app.”

For whom will the old process remain?

EPFO has also clarified that the currently prevalent process of generating UAN through employers will continue for some exceptions, such as international workers and citizens of Nepal and Bhutan.

FAT facility was started in April 2025

Earlier, EPFO started using face authentication technology on 8 April 2025. Then EPFO added 3 major features to the UMANG app:

Employees starting a new job can generate and activate UAN directly from the app.

Those who already have UAN can activate it through the app.

Services can be accessed through face authentication for already activated UAN.

EPFO had also said that there would be no need to contact any EPFO office or employer to avail these facilities. Members can complete this process themselves from their smartphones.

What will be the benefits of the new system?

According to EPFO, this digital change will have many benefits. This will be convenient for the PF member. Along with this, the work of EPFO will also become easier.

UAN generation and activation will happen simultaneously, there will be no need for separate processes.

All the data will be filled directly from UIDAI, which will eliminate the possibility of wrong information.

There will be no need for any manual verification or document uploading.

Once the UAN is generated, members will be able to download a PDF of the e-UAN card, which they can give to their employer to start the PF process. Immediately after activation, the member will get access to EPFO services like viewing passbook, updating KYC, submitting claims, etc.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has announced a major relief for its over 7.5 crore members. Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had said on June 24, 2025 that EPFO has increased the auto-claim settlement limit of PF (Provident Fund) from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. This move will prove to be a boon for those who need money urgently in emergencies.

This new rule of EPFO will make the method of withdrawing funds easier and faster. This auto-claim facility, which was started in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, earlier helped in withdrawing funds for illness. Now it has been further expanded. Now claims up to Rs 5 lakh can also be settled automatically for important works like education, marriage and house construction.

Features of EPFO Auto Claim

Faster processing: 95 percent of claims are now settled within 3 days, which previously took 10 days.

Withdraw through UPI and ATM: By May-June 2025, EPFO members will also be able to withdraw money through UPI and ATM.

Less Rejection: The claim rejection rate has come down from 50% to 30%. This simply means that the chances of the claim being approved are now higher.

Less hassle: If KYC is complete and Aadhaar, PAN card and bank details are linked, the claim will be processed without any documents.

How to take advantage?

Log in to your UAN portal, verify your KYC, and file a claim online. With just a few clicks, the money will be in your account. Your UAN should be linked to Aadhaar. If so, you won’t need the employer’s approval to update the bank details.

EPFO aims to settle all claims like pension, insurance and PF withdrawal within 72 hours. For this, new technologies like AI and machine learning are being used, which will further improve the experience of your fund holders.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has given relief to government employees in its recently issued circular. Actually, many government employees want to take advantage of the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, but they have not activated their UAN and have not linked their Aadhaar number to the bank account. In such a situation, the government has extended its deadline.

EPFO has given a big relief to government employees. Actually, EPFO has extended the last date for activating Universal Account Number (UAN) and linking Aadhaar number to bank account for government employees from 30 May to 30 June 2025.

UAN or Universal Account Number is a 12 digit unique number, with the help of which the employee’s contribution to EPFO is tracked and managed. If your UAN is not active, you cannot access your EPFO account. Also, you cannot transfer funds. No matter how many companies you change, your UAN always remains the same.

Activating UAN is necessary to avail online services offered by EPFO, such as online money withdrawal, balance check and contact details update. Additionally, Aadhaar seeding is required to transfer EPF amount directly to the linked bank account.

The Employment Linked Incentive Scheme (ELI) scheme was introduced by the government in the 2024 budget, in which employers are encouraged to create new jobs in the formal sector. Under this scheme, new employees are given financial assistance when they register with EPFO.

To activate UAN, you will have to go to the EPFO member portal, where you will have to go to the Important Links section and click on Activate UAN. In this, you will have to provide some important information like DOB, Aadhar card.

After completing all these processes, you will get an OTP option, on clicking which, OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. On filling it, your UAN will be activated.

EPFO has made many big changes to simplify the services related to Provident Fund. Now PF transfer has become easier with Form 13, UAN can be generated with face authentication and even without Aadhaar.

EPFO Update: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made several important changes to make PF related services easier, transparent and digital. These new rules will directly benefit crores of EPF members and employers. Whether it is transferring PF, generating a new UAN or filing an online claim, now all this has become faster and easier than ever. EPFO has also removed the requirement of Aadhaar in some cases and has also included new technology like face authentication. Let us know about these big changes related to EPF in detail.

Now it is easy to transfer PF

EPFO has revamped Form 13, making it easier to transfer PF account after changing jobs. The new form will clearly show the taxable and non-taxable part of PF interest, which will bring transparency in tax calculation and tracking. This change will help employees track their money and avoid tax-related errors.

Now UAN will be created without Aadhaar and Face ID

Now in certain cases, employers can generate UAN for employees even without Aadhaar number. Also, EPFO has introduced face authentication facility in UMANG app through which UAN can be generated and activated instantly. This technology makes the process of activating UAN completely digital and easy, which will provide convenience to new and old employees.

Adding bank account also became easy

There is no need to upload a photo of the check book or passbook while filling the EPF claim form if your bank account is already linked to UAN and verified by NPCI. Also, the requirement of employer’s approval for linking a bank account has also been removed. This will process the claim quickly and the chances of the form being rejected will also be reduced.

EPFO has now divided the PF interest into two parts in Form 13 – taxable part and tax free part. This will now ensure that TDS i.e. tax deduction is done correctly and there will be no error. It will now be easy for PF members to understand how much tax is being deducted from their interest.

PF transfer is now even faster

EPFO has made the process of PF transfer very easy. Now your PF balance will be transferred quickly when you change jobs. Every year about Rs 90,000 crore is transferred. About 1.25 crore people will benefit from this.

UAN can be generated even without Aadhaar

Now in some special cases, companies can generate UAN i.e. Universal Account Number even without Aadhaar. This facility is for those members whose PF trust has been closed or against whom any legal proceedings are going on. Companies will be able to create UAN in bulk with the old member ID and other information.

Security is tight even on UAN without Aadhaar

If someone’s UAN is made without Aadhaar, then that account will remain frozen until Aadhaar is linked. This will prevent any misuse and the safety of PF money will be maintained.

PF transfer claim will now be faster

Earlier, approval was required from both the offices for PF transfer, which caused delay. Now this process will be completed from a single office and your money will reach your new PF account quickly. All these changes of EPFO have been brought for the convenience, safety and transparency of the members so that every work related to PF can be easy and tension-free.

For this, they will now have to link their UAN and bank account with Aadhaar by December 15. Earlier its last date was November 30, but a large number of employees missed it. EPFO has given them another chance.

EPFO says that by activating UAN, employees will be able to avail the benefits of Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme. The organization has instructed employers to update the UAN and bank account of all new employees within the stipulated time limit.

What will be the loss if you do not link

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of the scheme is possible only when Aadhaar and bank account are registered with UAN number with complete details. Currently, information is being updated only for employees who joined the job in the current financial year. In the next phase, old employees will also have to update their details.

Activate UAN number like this

First go to the EPFO portal (https://www.epfindia.gov.in/). Click on the Activate UAN link under Important Links.

Enter UAN, Aadhaar number, name, date of birth and mobile number linked with Aadhaar.

Employees have to ensure that their mobile number is linked with Aadhaar.

After that agree to Aadhaar OTP verification.

Click on Get Verification PIN to receive OTP on your Aadhaar linked mobile number.

Enter the OTP to complete the activation.

On successful activation a password will be sent to your registered mobile number.

The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has issued a new circular on November 29, 2024, eliminating the mandatory Aadhaar linking for some employees. This rule will apply to special categories who are unable to obtain Aadhaar under the current circumstances.

Now these categories of employees can get their claims settled without linking Aadhaar:

International employees who have completed their assignments in India and could not get Aadhaar. Indian citizens who have permanently settled abroad and have taken foreign citizenship.

Citizens of Nepal and Bhutan who are employed in India under the EPF Act but do not have Aadhaar. In the process of claims, the identity of these employees will be ensured through passport, citizenship certificate and other necessary documents. For this, PAN, bank account details and other necessary details will also be verified.

EPFO has said that the officers will settle all the claims after verification with utmost care. In cases where the balance is more than Rs 5 lakh, verification can also be done from the employers. All payments will be made through NEFT.

Although creating a UAN will remain mandatory, the condition of Aadhaar linking has been removed. The purpose of this change is to simplify and make the claim settlement process more effective for employees who are unable to obtain Aadhaar.

EPFO : EPFO has implemented new rules to increase control over dormant accounts. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has implemented new rules to strengthen control over dormant accounts with the aim of curbing fraud and unauthorized withdrawals.

Under the new rules, the standard operating procedure (SOP) for dormant accounts has been updated, which includes a strict verification process.

Accounts are divided into 2 categories

Low Transaction Accounts: Accounts which have no credit or debit (excluding interest) in a specified period are categorized as ‘no transaction accounts’.

Inactive accounts: Accounts which fall under the criteria already laid down under the EPF scheme will be put under the ‘inactive’ category. Both types of accounts will now have to undergo a verification process before any withdrawal or transfer can be made.

Mandatory Universal Account Number (UAN)

Under these new rules, it has been made mandatory to generate Universal Account Number (UAN) for all inactive accounts. Members whose inactive or dormant accounts are not linked to UAN will have to visit EPFO offices or special camps for biometric verification and photo capture. The aim of this process is to confirm the identity of claimants and prevent fraud.

Also Read: Big update on Adani’s retirement, the company informed the stock market

Updating KYC

Members with accounts that already have UAN linked but do not have the correct Know Your Customer (KYC) information will have to complete KYC seeding. This can be done either through their employers or directly at EPFO offices. The process of UAN generation and KYC update will now depend on the account balance, with the account requiring approval from senior officials.

New verification processes

Under the revised SOP, an intensive verification process has been introduced to unblock inactive accounts. This process includes verification of digital and physical records. Apart from this, confirmation of the employer will also be required. Claims made from previously inactive accounts will face additional scrutiny. These changes have been made to increase the security of EPF accounts and prevent their misuse. EPFO subscribers should be cautious about these new rules.

PF UAN number (UAN) issued by EPFO never changes. On changing jobs, the employee has to share UAN with the new company. Therefore, this is a very important number and every employee should know it.

EPFO issues a 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN) to every PF account holder, like the Aadhaar number. To do any work related to PF account, you need UAN number. Without UAN, neither PF balance can be checked nor mobile number can be added to the account. Similarly, without UAN number, passbook cannot be downloaded nor PF amount can be transferred. Knowing all this, you must have understood the importance of UAN.

No matter how many jobs an employee changes, the UAN number of the PF account remains the same. On changing jobs, the employee has to inform the UAN to the new company. Therefore every employee should know this. But, sometimes the employee forgets his UAN number. If you have also forgotten your UAN number then you do not need to be disappointed. You can know this sitting at home.

How to know UAN number online:

You can also know UAN number online. For this you will have to go to the official website of EPFO https://www.epfindia.gov.in/site_en/index.php. You can check UAN online only if your mobile number is linked to the PF account. Because, the rest of the process will be completed only with the help of OTP received on the mobile number.

Visit the official website of EPFO www.epfindia.gov.in

On the home page, go to Services, go to For Employees section, then go to its Services section and click on Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP).

A new page will open. Go to the Important Links given on the right side and click on Know your UAN.

After doing this, a new page will open in front of you, enter your registered mobile number here, enter the captcha and click.

Do OTP validation by entering OTP on mobile.

Now a new page will open. Fill name and then date of birth in it. Then enter member ID, Aadhaar or PAN number and also enter captcha. Then click on Show My UAN.

Your UAN number will be sent to your registered mobile number.

This is the way to activate UAN online

Go to EPFO website and click on For Employee option in the Services menu.

After this, click on the Member UAN/Online Service option visible on the Services page.

A login page will open, click on the option of Activate Universal Account Number (UAN) visible below it.

Here, after filling your UAN number, date of birth, mobile number and captcha text, click on Get Authorization Pin.

An OTP will come on the registered mobile number. After filling it, verify the details. After doing this click on Agree. After this UAN has to be activated.

It takes at least six hours for the UAN number to be activated.

4. After filling all the details, you will come to a new page and here you will have to select the member ID.
5. Here you will get your EPF balance on the e-passbook.

3. Balance can also be checked on UMANG App

New Delhi : The government is preparing to transfer money to the account of interest PF account holders for the financial year 2022. According to the information, this time there is a possibility of getting interest at the rate of 8.1 percent.

Talking about the same Employees Provident Fund Organization, the interest received in the PPF account in the financial year 2022 has been calculated. Soon this has to be transferred to the account of the account holders. This time a total of Rs 72000 crore deposited by the government is expected to be sent to the servant’s account.

Significantly, last year people had to wait for 6 to 8 months for interest. The atmosphere had become a bit different due to his son, but this year the government will not delay in transferring him. According to the information, the interest money in the account will be transferred soon. Talking about the interest level of this year, it has reached a low of 24 years.

In this way interest can be calculated

If you have 1000000 rupees in your account then 81000 will be given as interest.
If you have ₹ 700000 in your PF account then you will get interest of ₹ 56700.
If ₹ 500000 is present in your PF account, then interest up to ₹ 40500 will be given.
If you have ₹ 100000 in your PF account then ₹ 8100 will be available.

In this way, it is very easy to check the balance PF money by giving a missed call. You will get the information after you give missed call on 01122901406 from your registered mobile number. After this, you will also be given the details of PF by the message of EPFO. After your UAN, PAN and Aadhar are linked that you will get the benefit of it.

The post Good News: EPFO employees will get benefit of one lakh rupees, check information immediately first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

There is a big update for more than 7 crore employees (EPFO Employees). In fact, soon the amount in the account of people working in the organized sector will increase. Interest transfer will be done for the financial year 2022 in the PF account of the employees. According to the same media report, the interest amount will be transferred to the PF account by the second week of September.

This time the interest is being paid by the government at the rate of 8.1%. However, this interest rate is the lowest in the last 40 years. Despite this, the employees have been waiting for the payment of PF for a long time. Meanwhile, EPFO has given big information. If the account holders want their entire interest amount in the account, then they have to take special care of some things. Otherwise, they may have to face loss in the amount of interest.

In fact, lakhs of employees working in the private sector change their jobs every few months. After joining a new job, employees open new PF accounts in the new company from their old UAN. In such a situation, the money of the new company comes in the account and the amount stops coming in the old PF account. In such a situation, the employees may have to bear the loss of interest amount due to not getting the account done.

In such a situation, EPFO has advised the employees to link all the accounts together. In doing so, interest can be paid on the amount collected in all the accounts. If the amount is more, the interest will also be higher.

PF account can be merged as soon as the UAN number is activated by the employees.

To merge PF account, visit the official website of EPFO.

The government can put the interest of PF in the account of the subscribers till 30 September. In such a situation, if you have also changed jobs and have not merged the PF account of the previous company with the new account, then do this work soon. Otherwise you will suffer big loss.

Nowadays, the number of employees working for a long time in the same company is less. People change jobs very quickly. On joining a new company, a new PF account starts without changing the UAN. But the PF account of the previous company is not automatically added to the new account.
