According to the news, the Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat train has been approved. This train will depart from Belagavi at 5:20 am and reach Bengaluru at 1:50 pm. Similarly, the return journey from Bengaluru will start at 2:20 pm and reach Belagavi at 10:40 pm. This will improve connectivity between Bengaluru, Tumkuru, Davanagere, Haveri, Hubli, Dharwad and Belagavi. Running of these trains will provide great convenience to a large number of passengers.

Expanding the country’s network of high speed and modern trains, the Vande Bharat train that is going to be launched will not only provide fast and comfortable travel experience to the passengers but will also strengthen the connectivity between various states.

A total of 144 Vande Bharat Express trains are running in the country

Indian Railways has launched Vande Bharat Express trains to provide better travel experience to passengers. These semi-high-speed trains, manufactured at the Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF), are equipped with modern coaches, advanced safety features and passenger amenities. Currently, a total of 144 Vande Bharat Express trains are running on different routes of the country. Out of these, 22 Vande Bharat trains are running on various stations of Maharashtra and 8 Vande Bharat trains are running on various stations of Madhya Pradesh.

Number of passengers in Vande Bharat

According to the report, the total passenger occupancy in Vande Bharat Express trains is 102.01 per cent in FY 2024-25. However, in the current financial year i.e. FY 2026, the passenger occupancy in these new-age trains is 105.03 per cent (till June 2025).

As per my earlier request, Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat train has been approved. This train will leave Belagavi at 5:20 am and reach Bengaluru at 1:50 pm.”

Similarly, the return journey from Bengaluru will start at 2:20 pm and reach Belagavi at 10:40 pm. This Vande Bharat will improve connectivity between Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Davanagere, Haveri, Hubli, Dharwad and Belagavi. Apart from this, BJP MP Jagadish Shettar said that he had been pushing this demand since he assumed office.

“I spoke to the Railway Minister about this and the proposal was approved in principle. But there was a delay due to the availability of coaches. When I met the Prime Minister, I again requested for an extension. He assured me and now the officials have confirmed the service,” Shettar told reporters in New Delhi.

144 Vande Bharat trains are currently running

Currently, a total of 144 Vande Bharat Express trains are running on various railway routes of the country. According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Vande Bharat Express trains are running with more than 100 percent capacity on all routes. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (July 30, 2025) that the total occupancy in Vande Bharat Express trains in the financial year 2024-25 and 2025-26 (till June, 2025) is 102.01% and 105.03%. Railways is soon going to start two new Vande Bharat Express trains from Bikaner and Jaipur. According to a report, the Bikaner-Delhi Vande Bharat Express will leave Bikaner at 5:55 am and reach Delhi at 12:15 pm. On return, it will leave Delhi at 4:30 pm and reach Bikaner at 10:50 pm. This train will travel via Churu-Ratangarh-Loharu.

This new train will reduce the travel time by 90 minutes. According to North Western Railway officials, the aim of the Vande Bharat Express is to provide such convenience to the passengers that they can travel and return in a single day.

What is the plan of Vande Bharat between Jaipur and Jodhpur

Similarly, plans are being made to run Vande Bharat trains between Jaipur and Jodhpur. However, the railway administration is still deciding whether this train will pass through Jaipur via Jodhpur-New Delhi or will go directly from Jaipur to Jodhpur. This plan is in its final stage and may be announced soon. Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, said that both these trains will run on the tracks soon after getting the approval of the Railway Ministry. Currently, Vande Bharat trains are running on Jaipur-Udaipur, Ajmer-Delhi, Bhagat Ki Kothi-Sabarmati and Udaipur-Agra Cantt routes.

Now passengers will be able to buy packaged food items in the train itself during the journey at the prescribed rate. As per the instructions of the Board, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has started this from Gorakhpur-Ayodhya-Lucknow-Prayagraj Vande Bharat. Approval to sell packed items in Vande Bharat

Before this new system, passengers had to book food and snacks while booking tickets in Vande Bharat. If they did not do so, they could only get tea, coffee and ready-to-eat items on request from IRCTC vendors. However, now the Railway Board has given permission to sell packed items in Vande Bharat, which will make the journey of passengers more comfortable than before. Vendors are now roaming around with packed items on trolleys in addition to booked food items.

Breakfast and food were available only on pre-booking

Giving information about the matter, the IRCTC supervisor said that breakfast and food are arranged in Vande Bharat train on the basis of booking. Apart from the order, a dozen breakfast and food packets are kept. Food cannot be arranged for more passengers than this. Also, there is a provision of some ready-to-eat packets. Ready-to-eat is given on demand. However, with the new packed food system, many types of items are being given to the passengers. Due to which their journey has become even easier.

Actually, this month the railways have started two Vande Bharats, which have 20 coaches. Till now, Vande Bharat trains with 16 coaches and 8 coaches were running. Due to the increase in the number of coaches, now more passengers will be able to travel by these trains than before.

According to the report of ‘ET Now’, these 20 coach Vande Bharat Express will replace the currently running 16 coach Vande Bharat. These two trains have been handed over to Southern Railway (SR) and South Central Railway (SCR) zones. That is, one Vande Bharat train with 20 coaches will be operated on both these routes. These two 20 coach Vande Bharat trains will run on Thiruvananthapuram Central-Kasargod and Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad routes. Due to this, the seating capacity of these trains has now increased from 1,128 to 1440.

The Vande Bharat train running between Thiruvananthapuram Central-Kasargod is numbered 20634/20633 and it completes the journey of 588 km in eight hours and five minutes. It is the fastest train on this route and runs on all days except Thursday in half-hours. This train number 20634 departs from Trivandrum Central at 05:15 and reaches its destination at 13:20 pm. On the return journey, the train departs from Kasargod at 2:30 pm and then reaches Trivandrum Central at 22:40 pm. On the other hand, if we talk about the second train, it will run on the Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad route. This train covers a distance of 699 km in 8.35 hours. The train runs on all days except Tuesday.

‘Kavach’ technology… a new dimension in security

Taking railway safety to new heights, indigenously developed ‘Kavach’ technology is being implemented. This state-of-the-art system is designed to prevent collisions and make train operations more efficient. Kavach technology has been implemented on 1,548 route kilometres.

South Central Railway- Lingampalli-Vikarabad-Wadi and Vikarabad-Bidar sections (265 Rkm), Manmad-Mudkhed-Dhone-Guntakal section (959 Rkm), Bidar-Parbhani section (241 Rkm).

Future plans

Work is underway to implement Kavach for 3,000 km on railways’ high-priority routes such as Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah. Tenders have been invited for Kavach deployment on about 15,000 km of track. Apart from this, a plan has been finalised to install this technology in 10,000 locomotives.

This train will cover a distance of more than 800 kilometers, passing through the high hills of Kashmir and the world’s highest bridge and entering the beautiful valley of Kashmir.

The fare of New Delhi-Srinagar Vande Bharat can be this much

. This journey will be completed in 13 hours. Passengers will board the train at 7:00 pm in Delhi and reach Srinagar at 8:00 am. There will be 3 categories in the special Vande Bharat – AC First Class, AC 2 Tier, and AC 3 Tier. Its fares will be between Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000.

Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Bhattacharya said electrification of railway lines in Tripura has been completed, paving the way for Vande Bharat Express to start from Agartala railway station. “I have been told that electrification of tracks, a pre-condition for the introduction of trains like Vande Bharat Express, has already been completed. So far I know that Vande Bharat service will be launched from Agartala in the next few months, which can be seen as a significant connectivity boost for a state like Tripura,” Bhattacharya said.

He heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing about a transformation in the connectivity sector of the Northeast. The MP said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a new identity to the Northeast. Tripura was one of the most neglected states in this part of the country. After PM Modi came to power, he brought broad gauge connectivity to Tripura in 2016 – in just two years. Today, railway connectivity has extended to Sabroom, the farthest corner of South Tripura district.”

Vande Bharat Express will reach Dhanbad from Howrah in 2 hours 53 minutes. Rajdhani Express takes 5 hours 41 minutes to reach Gaya from Howrah. Vande Bharat Express will take one minute less to reach Gaya from Howrah than Rajdhani Express.

On September 15, the Prime Minister will flag off several Vande Bharat Expresses simultaneously. These include Howrah-Gaya and Tata-Patna.

At the same time, in SCR, eight coaches of MGR Chennai Vande Bharat Express from Vijayawada also got a special recognition by connecting Tirupati and recorded an occupancy of 126 percent. SCR General Manager Arun Kumar Jain expressed immense satisfaction over the tremendous success of Vande Bharat Express trains across the region. He stressed that meeting the demands of rail passengers is a top priority for the Railways and efforts will continue to meet the aspirations of passengers, an SCR statement said on Monday.

Giving more information about this, a senior official of South Central Railway (SCR) says that this service is likely to start between the end of this month or the beginning of the new year. Meanwhile, a team of professionals has been hired, who will look after all the train operations.

He is receiving appropriate training for his role in Secunderabad. The official says the Vande Bharat train is likely to run at an average speed of 130 kmph, while some expresses are allowed to run at a speed of 100 kmph. However, the average speed can fluctuate depending on the track.

Vande Bharat will also run between Bengaluru-Coimbatore

Meanwhile, the much-awaited Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu is also about to be launched. Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan confirmed that the Vande Bharat Express between the two cities will be launched by the end of December.

This will be the fourth Vande Bharat Express for Karnataka. “By the end of December, Bengaluru is all set to welcome its fourth Vande Bharat Express connecting with Coimbatore,” PC Mohan said. Currently there is only one express train between Bengaluru and Coimbatore. Udaya Express currently operates in the morning with a journey time of approximately 7 hours.

In Karnataka, preparations are being made to extend Vande Bharat, which connects Bengaluru to Hubli-Dharwad, to Belagavi, which is like good news for the passengers. According to ‘Deccan Herald’, Anish Hegde, Chief Public Relations Officer of South Western Railways, said, Dharwad-Belagavi has been double lined and fully electrified. Of the Londa-Miraj section, only the Vijayanagar-Miraj section (8.1 km) is to be doubled. Hegde said the work would be completed soon.

Vande Bharat Express will take 7 hours 45 minutes from KSR Bengaluru to Belagavi, which is more than two hours faster than the existing fastest train. As per the time table approved by the Railway Board on Wednesday, it will cover the same distance in 8 hours 10 minutes in the return direction.

At the same time, Kusuma Hariprasad, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Administration), Bengaluru, said that the authorities are preparing for the trial run between Dharwad and Belagavi next week, which will happen after the arrival of a new rake (trainset) from Integral Coach Factory, Chennai. He said the existing trainset cannot be used for trial runs as it requires maintenance on Tuesdays when trains do not run.

Ajmer-New Delhi Vande Bharat also expanded

On the other hand, the Vande Bharat Express running between New Delhi and Ajmer, which Rajasthan got a few months ago, is also being expanded. Earlier it used to run between Ajmer and New Delhi, which will now run till Chandigarh. That means that after starting from Ajmer, it will not only go to New Delhi but also Chandigarh.

Talking about time, it departs from Ajmer at 6.55 in the morning and will reach Chandigarh at 3.45 in the afternoon. After this this train will also go back from Chandigarh to Ajmer. However, it has not yet been revealed when this train will reach Chandigarh. Information about the date has not been revealed yet.

For the first time in the country, on Tuesday, June 27, five Vande Bharat trains will be flagged off. These five trains running in different parts will be flagged off in 15 minutes.
