Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that before the year 2024, 26 green expressways will be ready in the country and India will be at par with America in terms of roads. Along with this, the Union Minister said that in the coming days, emphasis will also be laid on the use of technology to collect toll tax. He said that till now there is no provision of punishment for not paying toll, but preparations are on to bring a bill regarding toll.

He said that after the implementation of the new system, there will be no crowd at the toll booths and traffic will also not be affected.

Nitin Gadkari said that at present, if a person travels a distance of even 10 kilometers on the toll road, then he has to pay a fee of 75 kilometers, but in the new system, he will be charged only for the distance covered. He denied that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) was going through a financial crisis. He said that the condition of NHAI is absolutely fine and it has no shortage of money. He said that in the past two banks offered loans at low rates. He told that due to the construction of roads, the distance between many cities will be reduced.
