New Delhi. It is necessary to have a ticket to travel by train. Even to go to the railway platform, you must have a platform ticket. Traveling without a ticket in a train is a crime.

If you are caught travelling without a ticket, the railway charges a fine, which is much higher than the price of the ticket. Many times it also happens that the train ticket is lost or torn. The passenger gets upset due to the loss or torn ticket. But, if this happens to you too, then you do not have to panic. If you have made a reservation, then if the ticket is lost, you can easily get a duplicate ticket.

The rules and fees for getting a duplicate ticket are different for different classes. A passenger can get a duplicate rail ticket by going to the TTE in the train. If you have not started the journey, you can also get a duplicate ticket by going to the ticket counter.

How much will it cost?

According to the official website of Indian Railways indianrail.gov.in, you will have to pay some fee to get a duplicate ticket. You have to pay Rs 50 to get a duplicate ticket for second and sleeper class. You will have to pay a fee of Rs 100 to get a duplicate ticket for classes above these.

If a confirmed ticket is lost after the reservation chart is prepared, you will have to pay 50% of the fare to get a duplicate ticket. If your lost original ticket is found, you can show both the tickets at the railway counter before the train leaves and get back the money paid for the duplicate ticket. You will not get a refund for a lost ticket.

What to do if the ticket gets torn?

If a passenger’s ticket gets torn after confirmation, he will get a duplicate ticket only after paying 25% of the fare. But the point to note here is that if a torn waiting list ticket is lost, you cannot get a duplicate ticket.
