Weather Report: Thunderstorms with speed of 50-60 kmph to 70 kmph are likely to occur in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi on May 31 and Himachal Pradesh on June 1. Heavy rain is also likely in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand on May 31. Thunderstorms are also likely in West Rajasthan.
Rainfall in May broke a record of almost 27 years. This month’s rainfall was close to 188 cm. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain warning till next week. Heavy rain is likely in the northeastern states till May 31, as the deep depression formed over Bangladesh will move north-northeast today and weaken and then form a low pressure, which is likely to cause heavy rain. In northwest India, light/moderate rain, thunderstorm and strong winds with a speed of 40-50 kmph are likely in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi; light/moderate rain is likely in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan from May 31 to June 3.
The IMD has issued a warning that a strong western disturbance is likely to cause thundershowers over northwest India for the next 4-5 days. Heavy rains are expected to continue over the ghat areas of Kerala, coastal Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. However, very heavy rains will occur at many places in Kerala today. Very heavy rains are likely to continue over northeast India during the next 7 days. Heavy rains are likely over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from May 31 to June 1.

In Chhattisgarh, Jaspur, Surguja, Korba, Raigarh, Jangjir Champa, Rajnandgaon, Durg, Balod, Dhamtri, Gariaband, Kanker, Kondgaon, Narayanpur, Bastar.
An alert has been issued for several districts of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Mizoram, Assam, all districts of Nagaland, Manipur and districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Meteorological Department said that heavy rainfall is also likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next seven days. Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya on May 31 and June 1 and over Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh on May 31. Unusually heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Meghalaya today.
The Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall over Kerala and Karnataka in South India till June 1. Scattered light to moderate rainfall with thundershowers and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph is forecast over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema and Telangana on May 30-31.
