Some media reports have claimed that two-wheelers using the National Highway will have to pay toll tax. This rule will come into effect from July 15. But the government has denied it. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has denied it. He says that no such decision has been taken. Complete exemption on toll for two-wheelers will continue. Road tax is collected from the owners of two-wheelers at the same time. This is the reason why toll plazas are not collected from two-wheelers on national highways.

Complete exemption on toll for two-wheelers will continue. Creating sensation by spreading misleading news without knowing the truth is not a sign of healthy journalism. I condemn it.’

The biggest achievement

Meanwhile, in an interview with Business Standard, Gadkari said that promoting the use of e-rickshaws in the country is the biggest achievement of his 11-year tenure. He said that e-rickshaws were introduced in the country in 2014 and since then about 1.5 crore people have been freed from manual labour. Especially in Jharkhand and West Bengal, there was a practice of pulling rickshaws by hand but the arrival of e-rickshaws has brought great relief.
