ATM Withdrawal Rules May 2025: You will have to pay more charge

RBI has decided to increase the fee for withdrawing money from ATM. Now, if you withdraw cash from ATM after the free limit, you will have to pay more charges than before. Every month the bank gives 5 free transactions to its customers. In metro cities, 3 free transactions are available from ATMs of other banks, while in non-metro cities this limit is 5. If you make transactions more than the free limit, then now you will have to pay Rs 23 (plus tax) on every extra transaction. This rule will be applicable on all ATMs. From today, there has been an increase of Rs 2 on every additional transaction.

ATM Free Transaction Limit: This is how much free limit you get

RBI has not made any change in the free transaction limit. That is, you can still do 5 free transactions from your bank’s ATM. 3 free transactions will continue to be available from other banks’ ATMs in metro cities, and 5 free transactions in non-metro cities. But the increase in ATM charges will affect the customers of small banks the most. Small banks have fewer ATMs, and their customers depend on the ATM network of big banks, due to which they will have to face higher charges.

The number of notes will be increased in ATM

RBI has instructed all banks and white-label ATM operators to increase the number of 100 and 200 notes in ATMs. Under this, 75% of ATMs should have 100 and 200 notes in at least one cassette by 30 September 2025. After this, this facility should be available in 90% of ATMs by 31 March 2026. After this instruction, those people will benefit who need 100 and 200 notes more than 500 notes. Now they will be able to easily withdraw these notes from ATMs.
