The name of North East Small Finance Bank has been changed to ‘Slice Small Finance Bank Limited’. The Reserve Bank of India approved it on 21 May 2025. It has got approval under the rules of Reserve Bank of India 1934. But now the question is arising in the minds of the customers of this bank that what will happen to the check book, IFSC code? Let’s know..

What impact will this change have on customers?

According to the rules of the Reserve Bank of India, even after changing the name of the bank, customers will be able to transact through their old passbooks, debit cards and cheque books. At the same time, there will be no change in the IFSC code until a separate notification is issued.

However, this change will not happen immediately. It will take some time. The bank will share information about the customers getting new passbooks, checkbooks, debit cards etc. Customers can visit their nearest branch for any assistance. Until any notification is issued by the bank, customers will continue to transact with old checkbooks, passbooks and debit cards.

The change of bank name will not have an immediate effect on your documents. In such a situation, customers should not take any action without getting instructions from the bank.

What did the Slice spokesperson say?

On this name change, a Slice spokesperson said, “We are on the path to build India’s most loved bank. Our mission is to take care of customers’ time and money. Which will improve their banking experience. The bank will run under the brand name Slice. We want to tell all stakeholders including all customers that this change will be completed with complete ease and simplicity. We are expanding across the country. But we are also making sure that we are who we are. We are expanding while keeping our Northeast roots at the center.”
