Actually, a visa is required to go to America. After applying for a visa, one has to take an appointment for a visa interview. On the day of the appointment, one has to go to the American embassy and give an interview. Here the visa officer asks many types of questions, such as why do you want to go to America, etc. On the basis of this interview, it is decided whether someone will get a visa or not. The interview is considered to be the most important stage to get an American visa, where one has to face tough questions as well.

Till now, many people were exempted from visa interview if they had obtained a visa earlier. Apart from this, people whose visa has expired in the last 12 months are exempted from interview under the ‘Interview Waiver Program’, that is, they did not have to give an interview to get a visa again. However, from September 2, the rules will change and now everyone will have to give an interview to get a visa again. B-1/B-2 visa, which is known as tourist visa, is also coming under its purview.
