Air travelers can now use their Driving Licence through DigiLocker to verify their identity on the Digi Yatra app, giving passengers an alternative to Aadhaar for contactless airport entry.

Digi Yatra has introduced a major update that gives air travelers more flexibility while using its contactless airport services. The digital airport platform now allows passengers to use their Driving Licence as a verified identity credential alongside Aadhaar.

The new feature enables travelers to securely fetch their Driving Licence through DigiLocker and add it to the Digi Yatra Wallet, offering another government-issued identity option for airport verification.

Driving Licence Now Supported on Digi Yatra

Until now, most passengers registered on Digi Yatra using their Aadhaar details.

With the latest update, users can now:

Register using either Aadhaar or a Driving Licence

Add a Driving Licence through DigiLocker

Store both Aadhaar and Driving Licence in the Digi Yatra Wallet

Choose either document as their Primary Credential

The selected primary credential is used to match the passenger’s identity with the name printed on the boarding pass.

Can You Use Digi Yatra Without Aadhaar?

Yes.

New users are no longer required to register using Aadhaar. They can now complete the registration process with a Driving Licence linked through DigiLocker.

Existing Aadhaar users can continue using Aadhaar or simply add their Driving Licence and switch it as their preferred identity credential whenever required.

Yes.

Passengers who have both credentials can choose which one they want to use as their Primary Credential for airport verification.

International Expansion Planned

Digi Yatra is also preparing to expand beyond domestic travel.

The platform has completed an international proof of concept aligned with International Air Transport Association (IATA) standards and plans to begin live international trials in the future.

It is also working on introducing passport-based verifiable credentials, which could eventually support international passenger verification using the same privacy-focused identity system.

These features are currently under development and are not yet available for regular international travel.

Can I show my bank balance or credit card limit instead of carrying THB 20,000 cash?

No. Thai immigration regulations explicitly require the equivalent of THB 20,000 in liquid, physical currency per person for VOA and Visa Waiver entries. Electronic balances, crypto wallets, or credit card limits are generally not accepted as valid alternatives during random physical spot checks.

What happens if I fail to fill out the TDAC form before my flight?

The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) must be filled out online within 72 hours of your arrival. Failing to do so can lead to major check-in denials by commercial airlines at Indian departure gates or severe processing delays at Bangkok immigration terminals.

Is the temporary visa-free entry for Indians still active in Thailand?

According to the latest Indian Embassy advisory issued on July 2, 2026, the previous blanket visa-free entry program has concluded.
1. Why France Dropped the Transit Visa

Now you might wonder why France chose this path now. Actually, French President Emmanuel Macron promised this back in February 2026.

A Strategic Partnership

First, the decision shows a very “Special Global Strategic Partnership.” Next, the French government published the official decree very recently. Thus, the move aims to boost ties between our people. Furthermore, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal spoke about this on Friday. Specifically, he said this move helps thousands of Indian students. Specifically, it also helps tourists flying to the West. Therefore, the “confusing process” of the ATV is now over.
2. What Exactly Was the Airport Transit Visa?

Now it is important to know what you are saving. Actually, an ATV is a very specific type of authorization.

The Layover Rule

First, travelers previously needed this visa for every single stop. Next, it only allowed you to stay inside the airport walls. Thus, you had to apply even for a short stay. Additionally, it applied to anyone flying to the USA or UK. Moreover, the application fee was a big burden for many. Specifically, the paperwork took a lot of time and effort. Consequently, this update saves you both money and deep stress.
Now while the ATV is gone, some rules still apply. Actually, you must stay within the airport to be safe.

Q: Do I need a visa for a short layover?

British Passport Holders In UAE Warned: New UK Travel Rules Start Now

So travel back to the UK just got a lot more complex for many people. On February 25, 2026, the UK launched a new digital border system. The goal? Tight security. In fact, this shift hits British dual nationals living in the UAE and the Gulf very hard. Plus, the new rules mean you can no longer board a flight with just a foreign passport.

The End of “Foreign Passport” Entry

But here is the main change you must know. Many dual citizens used to travel on their UAE or Australian passports. Is that still okay? No. Under the 2026 rules, airlines will deny you boarding if you lack the right UK papers. Consequently, you must show a valid British passport to prove your right to enter.

Moreover, the new ETA system does not have a fix for dual citizens. If you try to get an ETA on a foreign passport, the system will not work for you. Previously, you could show your right of abode at the UK border desk. So this new “pre-flight” check stops you before you even leave Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Therefore, you must act fast to get your UK papers in order.

Quick Guide: UK Travel Requirements (2026)

The High Cost of the “Right of Abode”

Still, some people do not want to carry two passports. The plan? You can apply for a “Certificate of Entitlement.” This paper sticks to your foreign passport to prove you are British. And it lets you board your flight without a UK passport. Accordingly, this is a very expensive choice at nearly £590. Essentially, most travelers find it cheaper and faster to just buy a new UK passport.

But what about kids born abroad? Many British parents in the UAE have children with only local papers. Why is this a risk? Because these kids now need their own UK passports to go home for the summer. Indeed, the rush for last-minute papers has already caused long wait times at the Home Office.

How to Avoid Travel Delays

Then there is the issue of airline rules. Carriers are now legally bound to check your digital status. If the system does not “green light” your foreign passport, you stay on the ground. The reason? The UK wants to stop all unauthorized travel before it reaches their shores.

Worth noting: These rules apply to flights, ferries, and trains. So even if you drive from Europe, the same check happens. Critics call the move “unfair,” but the Home Office says they gave plenty of warning. Ultimately, if you live in the UAE and hold dual status, check your passport drawer today.

So some airlines might let you board, but there is no set rule. Because of this, it is very risky to try. Most experts say you should renew your passport at least two months before you fly.

What is the UK ETA and do I need it?

In fact, the ETA is for foreign guests who do not need a visa. Additionally, British citizens do not need an ETA. But if you use a foreign passport, you cannot get an ETA because you are already a citizen.

DGCA Modifies Ticket Refund Rules: 48-Hour Free Cancellation and Faster Payouts

So flying in India just got a lot less stressful for your wallet. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has updated its refund norms for 2026. The goal? Better rights for flyers. In fact, you can now cancel or change your ticket for free within 48 hours of booking. Plus, the new rules set a strict deadline for airlines to pay you back.

The 48-Hour “Look-In” Option

But here is the most important part of the update. This “look-in” window allows you to fix mistakes or change your mind without penalty. Is it always free? Yes, but you must still pay the difference in the flight fare. Consequently, if the new ticket costs more, you only pay that extra gap.

Moreover, this benefit comes with a specific time requirement. For domestic flights, you must book at least seven days before the journey. For international trips, the gap must be at least 15 days. Previously, most airlines charged a flat fee even if you cancelled minutes after booking. So this change protects you from instant buyer’s remorse. Therefore, always double-check your plans within the first two days.

New DGCA Refund Guidelines (Effective March 26, 2026)

Zero Fees for Name Corrections

Still, spelling mistakes on a ticket used to be a costly nightmare. The DGCA has now barred airlines from charging for name fixes. The condition? You must catch the error within 24 hours of booking. And the ticket must be bought directly from the airline’s own website. Accordingly, you can fix a typo for free as long as it is for the same person.

But what about tickets bought through travel sites? The airline is still the one responsible for your money. Why? Because the DGCA says agents are just representatives of the airline. Essentially, the airline must ensure you get your cash back within 14 working days. Indeed, this stops the “ping-pong” game between agents and airlines.

Special Focus on Medical Emergencies

Then there are the new rules for health crises. If you or a family member on the same PNR is hospitalized, the airline has two choices. They can give you a full refund or a credit shell for a future flight. This move follows the chaos seen in December 2025 during mass flight disruptions.

Worth noting: For other medical issues, an aerospace medicine specialist must review your case. This ensures that the system is fair for both the flyer and the carrier. Ultimately, these rules force airlines to be more accountable.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I cancel a last-minute flight for free under the 48-hour rule? So no, the flight must be at least seven days away for domestic travel. Because of this, “last-minute” bookings made 24 or 48 hours before departure do not qualify for a free cancellation.

What happens if I booked my ticket through a travel agent? In fact, the airline is still the one that must process your refund. Additionally, the DGCA has mandated that this process must finish within 14 working days from the date of request.

Are these rules already in effect? But the revised CAR was issued on February 24, 2026.

OCI Cardholders Immigration Clearance in India: A complete guide

So the days of long airport lines are finally over for OCI cardholders. The Indian government has launched the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP). The goal? Speed. In fact, travelers can now breeze through clearance in just 30 seconds. Plus, this new system uses smart e-Gates to verify your identity.

How to Register for FTI-TTP

But here is the first step you must take. You need to sign up on the official FTI-TTP online portal. Is the process hard? No. You just fill in your details and upload your papers. Consequently, you will receive an OTP on your phone to finish the task.

Moreover, you must check your passport date before you start. Your passport needs at least six months of life left to qualify. Previously, everyone had to wait for a manual stamp from an officer. So this digital move saves a huge amount of time. Therefore, you should register well before your next trip.

Still, you need to provide your biometrics once to activate the service. You can do this at a Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or at the airport. And the system captures your fingerprints and a photo of your face. Accordingly, the program lasts for five years or until your passport expires.

But what happens once you reach the airport? You simply head to the e-Gates and scan your boarding pass. Then, you scan your passport and let the camera check your face. Essentially, the gate opens on its own once the system identifies you. Indeed, it makes entry into India more secure and much faster.

Available Airports and Eligibility

Then there is the question of where you can use this tech. Currently, 13 major airports like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru have these e-Gates. The plan? Expansion. The state will soon add 21 more airports to the list.

Worth noting: This program comes at zero cost to the traveler. However, if your passport has an “Emigration Check Required” (ECR) note, you cannot join. So check your last page carefully. Ultimately, this program treats OCI holders as trusted guests, making every visit smoother.

India Rank 75th on 2026 Passport List

Indian travellers have some news to check for 2026. Specifically, our passport is now in 75th place on a big global list. Because of this, India is 10 spots higher than last year. However, the number of free-visa spots has gone down. Currently, you can visit 56 countries without a paper visa. Last year, that number was 57.

Why is the Rank Higher?

It seems odd that a rank goes up when points go down. However, the list compares all nations at once. Specifically, other countries lost even more points than India did. Therefore, our rank moved up anyway. Actually, this is the best rank for India in many years.

Two Places End Free Entry

Two popular spots recently changed their rules for us. Specifically, Iran and Bolivia are no longer on the free list. As a result, you must ask for a visa before you fly there.

Iran: They stopped free entry in late 2025. Sadly, there were cases of job scams and theft.

Bolivia: They now ask for a digital visa first. Since you need this paper, the list no longer calls it free.

A New Spot: The Gambia

While we lost two spots, we gained a new one this month. Specifically, The Gambia was added to the list. This move helped the count go from 55 in January to 56 today. Consequently, this small nation in Africa is a new pick for us.

Indian Railways is the lifeline of the nation. Recently, the ministry has shared new rules for a smoother journey. Therefore, every passenger should learn these updates before their next trip. Currently, many of these laws are being strictly enforced at major stations.

1. Mandatory Aadhaar for Tatkal

Booking a Tatkal ticket now requires a verified identity. Specifically, only Aadhaar-verified users can book Tatkal tickets through the IRCTC app or website. Since July 1, 2025, this rule aims to stop fraud and bots. Additionally, you must complete an OTP-based check for every booking starting July 15, 2025.

2. New Restrictions for Agents

Authorized agents now face a “quiet period” during the morning rush. Specifically, they cannot book tickets during the first 30 minutes of the Tatkal window. For AC classes, agents can only log in after 10:30 AM. Meanwhile, for non-AC classes, they must wait until 11:30 AM. Consequently, individual passengers have a better chance of getting a seat.

3. Strict Rules for Waitlisted Tickets

If you have a waitlisted ticket, you cannot board a reserved coach anymore. Specifically, this rule applies to both online and counter tickets. If you are caught in a Sleeper or AC coach without a confirmed seat, you will face a fine. For instance, the penalty is ₹250 for Sleeper and ₹440 for AC classes.

4. Luggage Limits by Class

Each travel class has a specific free weight limit for bags. For example, First AC passengers can carry up to 70 kg. Meanwhile, the limit for Sleeper class is 40 kg. If your bags are too heavy, you must book them in the luggage van. Actually, you can be fined up to six times the rate for unbooked excess luggage.

5. Smoking and Alcohol Ban

Safety is the top priority for the railways. Therefore, smoking and drinking alcohol are strictly banned on all trains and platforms. If you are caught, you may face a fine of ₹500 or even jail time. Moreover, repeating the offense can lead to a permanent ban from traveling on trains.

6. Food and Unauthorized Sellers

Passengers can carry their own home-cooked meals for the journey. However, you should only buy food from pantry cars or e-catering vendors. Specifically, the board warns against buying from unauthorized platform sellers for health reasons. In fact, many stations now have “One Station One Product” stalls for local snacks.

7. Cancellation and Refund Policy

Refunds depend entirely on when you cancel your ticket. Specifically, if you cancel a confirmed ticket 48 hours early, you only pay a flat fee. However, if you cancel within 4 hours of departure, you will lose 50% of the fare. Currently, there is no refund for confirmed Tatkal tickets unless the train is canceled.

8. Identity Proof Requirements

Always carry an original ID card while traveling. For instance, an Aadhaar card, PAN card, or Voter ID is mandatory. If you fail to show an ID, the ticket checker will treat you as a passenger without a ticket. Consequently, you will have to pay the full fare plus a penalty of ₹250.

9. General Safety and Doors

Railway staff are now more alert about passenger safety. Specifically, standing near the open doors of a moving train is a punishable offense. Moreover, you should always secure your bags with chains under the seat. Actually, these small steps help reduce theft and accidents during long-distance travel.

Power banks are a travel lifesaver. The thing is, they are essentially tiny boxes of volatile energy.

Also Read | Income Tax Dept Emails Flag Undisclosed Foreign Assets

Actually, aviation authorities like India’s DGCA are currently tightening the screws on how we carry them. Specifically, following several fire scares—including a recent one on an IndiGo flight—regulators are moving toward stricter enforcement.

As a result, being unaware of the rules could mean your expensive charger ends up in a security bin. Consequently, you need to treat these gadgets with the same caution as any other hazardous material (let’s be real, nobody wants a fire at 30,000 feet).

And here’s the kicker. Your phone and laptop have built-in safety circuits, but that cheap power bank might not.

Basically, the risk is “thermal runaway.” Instead of a slow battery drain, a damaged or poor-quality cell can enter a self-heating loop. In fact, it can lead to toxic fumes or an actual explosion. And then Y followed. This is why airlines are obsessed with where you pack them.

Also Read | Income Tax Dept Emails Flag Undisclosed Foreign Assets

Storage Advice: Don’t shove them in the overhead bin. Basically, many airlines now mandate they stay under the seat or in the seat pocket for faster access if they start smoking (those too).

Terminal Protection: Keep the ports covered or use a dedicated pouch. Actually, contact with keys or coins can cause a short circuit.

Moreover, the math matters. Specifically, security doesn’t look at “mAh”—they look at “Watt-hours” (Wh).

Actually, the limit for most airlines is 100 Wh. As a result, if your device doesn’t have the rating clearly printed on it, it will likely be confiscated. Consequently, if your bank only shows mAh, you’ll need to do the math yourself to prove it’s legal (I checked this twice).

Example: A standard 20,000 mAh bank at 3.7V is $74 Wh$—well within the limit.

The thing is, usage rules are now split by region. In fact, carriers like Emirates and Flydubai have completely banned the use of power banks during flights as of late 2025.

Basically, you can carry them, but you can’t charge your phone with them while in the air. Instead of a tidy wrap-up, just be prepared for different rules if you’re flying to the US versus the Middle East. And then Y followed. If you’re caught using one on a restricted flight, the crew might have to confiscate it for the duration of the journey…

You decided to fly with your dog or cat for the first time, realizing the logistics feel totally overwhelming. Every airline seems to have a different rule on weight, carrier size, and where your furry companion can actually sit—so you need a master checklist, or nothing.

Let’s be real. Flying with pets in India is totally doable, but it takes planning. It’s not a last-minute ticket purchase.

Also Read | Best Bank in India: Bank of Baroda Wins Top Award

The Breakdown: Cabin vs. Cargo

The thing is, the decision between the cabin and cargo is purely about weight, and the limits are strict.

In the Cabin: Only small pets, puppies, and kittens are allowed. The rules vary, but they’re tight. Air India recently updated its rule to allow pets up to 10 kg (including the carrier) in the cabin. Akasa Air also permits up to 10 kg in the cabin. Your carrier must be soft-sided and fit right under the seat, those too.

The Cargo Hold: If your pet is heavier than the cabin limit, they go in the temperature-controlled cargo hold, which is now generally mandatory on IndiGo flights for pets (except service dogs). You must use a hard-sided, sturdy crate that meets IATA standards for this.

And here’s the kicker: Some airlines have breed restrictions. Short-muzzled dogs and cats—the brachycephalic breeds like Pugs or Persian cats—often cannot fly in the cargo hold at all because of breathing risks at high altitudes. You have to check that specific rule before you book, seriously.

The Paperwork Game

Forget packing treats; the most important thing is the stack of documents.

Health Certificate: A vet visit is mandatory, and you need a “fitness-to-fly” certificate issued within 10 days of your travel date. No exceptions.

Records: Updated vaccination records, especially rabies, are crucial. Keep the originals handy.

The ID: Your pet needs a visible ID tag on their collar with your contact details, those too. Bring recent photos of your pet, just in case.

Day-of-Travel Tips

Prep: Start familiarizing your pet with their carrier weeks in advance. Let them associate it with good things—treats and toys.

Exercise, Not Food: Give your pet a good workout on the travel day to burn off anxiety. Only a light meal 4-6 hours before flying. Avoid sedatives! Most vets and airlines actively discourage them due to health risks during the flight.

Check-in: Get to the airport at least 2-3 hours early. You have extra formalities to complete. If your pet is traveling in the cabin, you’ll have to take them out of the carrier for security screening. Keep a tight leash, obviously.

The thing is, your calm energy makes a massive difference, so stay positive. With all this planning and the right documents, you and your furry companion will be jet-setting pros in no time. It’s an ongoing effort, but the journey is worth it….
