CBSE 10th Board Exam New Rules: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has approved the rules for conducting class 10 board examinations twice a year from the year 2026.
According to the new rules, it will be mandatory for class 10 students to appear in the board examination for the first time.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a big decision regarding the 10th class board exam. CBSE class 10 board exams will be held twice a year. The first phase of the exam will be held in February and the second phase in May. The results of the first phase will come in April and the second phase in June. Both exams will be conducted on the full syllabus. The first phase will be compulsory for the students. At the same time, the second phase will be optional for the students.

CBSE Exam Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said that the board exams will now be conducted in two phases. The first phase will be in February and the second phase in May. The results of these two phases will be declared in April and June respectively. He said that it will be mandatory for all students to appear in the first phase, while the second phase of the exam will be optional, that is, students can appear in it if they wish. Students will get a chance to improve their marks in any three subjects from subjects like science, mathematics, social science and languages.

Students will get this option
CBSE has said that class 10 students studying in the winter session will get the option to appear for the board exam in either the first or second phase. However, internal assessment will be done only once in the whole year. CBSE had released a draft policy in February this year and sought suggestions from the people on it. CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh said that this step has been taken as per the recommendations of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. NEP suggests that to reduce the pressure of board examinations, students should be allowed to take the exam twice in the same year, so that they can improve their performance.
