Working women in Delhi will now be able to work in night shifts as well. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved the proposal related to this. Now this proposal will be sent to the Lieutenant Governor for final approval.
Now women will be able to work in night shifts in the national capital Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved this proposal. It is said that soon this proposal will be sent to the Lieutenant Governor for final approval. After the LG approves this proposal, women will now be allowed to work at night in shops or commercial establishments in Delhi. After the proposal is approved, women in Delhi will get the freedom to work 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved this proposal, soon this proposal will be sent to LG for final approval. Under the current rules, women cannot work after 9 pm in summer. In winter, women are allowed to work only till 8 pm. CM said that now the government is going to give relaxation in Delhi Shops and Establishment Act-1954 under this proposal.
The CM said that this decision of the government will increase the participation of women in the work force. Along with this, the concept of ease of doing business will also be promoted. However, for this, the institutions will also have to make all arrangements for the safety of women employees. This decision of the government will help in making the national capital a 24×7 business hub.
Along with this, the CM said that women are already allowed to work in night shifts in Haryana, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu. Along with this, many provisions have been made in favor of women employees. Institutions will have to provide benefits like ESI, bonus, provident fund etc. to women employees. Along with this, the facility of weekly off will have to be given. Not only this, overtime payment will also have to be made.
Provisions have been made keeping in mind the safety of women. It will be necessary for the institutions to take written consent of women before employing them in night shift. Also, CCTV cameras, security guards and safe transport will have to be arranged at the workplace. Not only this, the institution will also have to form an internal complaint committee under the Sexual Harassment Prevention Act (POSH Act).
