Heavy Rain Alert: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert in many states across the country.
The IMD has said that an east-west turf is formed from northwest Rajasthan to eastern Bangladesh and a north-south turf is formed from northern Chhattisgarh to the Gulf of Mannar at the lower troposphere level. Heavy rain is expected due to its effect.
It will rain in North India
The western disturbance is active as a cyclonic circulation over north and central Pakistan, which may affect the western Himalayan region. Due to its effect, there is a possibility of sporadic to moderate rains with thunder, lightning and strong winds (40-50 km/h) in the western Himalayas.
How will the weather be in Northeast India?
An upper air cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and an east-west trough from northwest Rajasthan to east Bangladesh are promoting significant weather activity across the region. Lightning is likely over the northeast for the next seven days. Light to moderate rainfall is expected here with strong winds (30-40 km/h, gusting up to 50 km/h). Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in some areas. Assam and Meghalaya may receive rain till April 26, while Arunachal Pradesh may receive rain till April 22-26. Rain is forecast in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till April 23.
It will rain in South India
Thunderstorms are expected in Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Kerala and Mahe in the next seven days. Light to moderate rains with lightning and strong winds (30-40 km/h, gusting up to 50 km/h) are expected in these states. Lightning is also likely in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Telangana during this period.
There is a possibility of heat wave in Bihar and Jharkhand
Heat wave is expected in Bihar and Jharkhand on 25 and 26 April. Apart from this, hot weather is expected in different areas of Bihar at night from 23 to 26 April. Haryana and Odisha may experience severe heat till 25 April and Uttar Pradesh from 22 to 26 April. Heat wave is likely in eastern Rajasthan till 26 April, while Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh may face similar conditions till 25 April.
