If you are a central government employee and are planning to take a leave, then this news may be for you. There are very few employees who understand the calculation of their leaves. Today we will tell you how much and what kind of leave central government employees get in a year.
What does the government have to say?
Recently, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh had given details about the leave of employees in Rajya Sabha. He said that apart from other eligible leaves in the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972, Central Government employees get 30 days of earned leave per year. Apart from this, there is a provision of 20 days of half pay leave, 8 days of casual leave and 2 days of restricted leave. They can avail this benefit for any personal reason including taking care of their elderly parents. This means that all the work can be completed in this leave.
No separate provision
In the monsoon session of Parliament, Rajya Sabha MP Sumitra Balmik had asked a question whether central government employees can take leave to take care of their elderly parents. On the MP’s question, the government explained the leaves in detail. Along with this, it also said that at present there is no proposal to start a separate category of leave for the care of elderly parents. The existing leave provisions are considered sufficient for such personal needs.
