Safety advice for Beas River

The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has issued a safety advisory for areas around the Beas river in Mandi district. The water level may rise due to rain and this can create a dangerous situation. Locals and tourists have been urged to stay away from the river banks and low-lying areas. This advice emphasizes on being cautious during rain.

Lack of rain and weather forecast

Himachal Pradesh recorded 36% less rainfall than normal from March 1 to April 30, 2025. District-wise data showed Chamba with a massive 52% deficit, while Mandi had a marginal 2% deficit. However, the weather department has forecast widespread rainfall on May 4, which is expected to bring some relief. The department has also advised citizens to prepare for possible weather disruptions.

Stay alert and safe

Residents are urged to keep an eye on weather updates and follow safety guidelines. Travellers should avoid travelling to risky areas. With the yellow alert, information and vigilance are the keys to dealing with Himachal’s seasonal challenges.
