SRINAGAR — The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday announced an extension of the ongoing summer vacation for all government and recognized private schools across the Union Territory until July 26, 2026. The decision was confirmed by J&K Education Minister Sakina Itoo in view of prevailing adverse weather conditions and ongoing safety advisories.

Educational institutions across the Kashmir Division as well as both the Winter and Summer Zones of Jammu Division are scheduled to resume regular academic operations on Monday, July 27, 2026.
1. Safety and Well-Being Cited as Priority
Announcing the decision via an official statement and public communication, Minister Sakina Itoo emphasized that student, teacher, and family safety remained the administration’s primary concern amid widespread rain and flash flood alerts across parts of the region.
Minister’s Statement: “Keeping the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and their families as our foremost priority, the summer vacation for all Government and recognized private schools… is hereby extended up to 26th July, 2026. Schools will now reopen on Monday, 27th July, 2026. I request everyone to stay safe, remain vigilant, and follow the advisories issued by the concerned authorities.”
