Maximum discount on luggage in First AC

If you are travelling in First Class AC coach, you can carry up to 70 kg of luggage with you. Apart from this, you are also allowed to carry 15 kg extra luggage without any extra charge.

This is the limit in second AC

Passengers traveling in second AC can carry luggage up to 50 kg. In this too, you get an additional discount of 10 kg. That means you can carry luggage up to 60 kg in total without any penalty.

How much luggage can be carried in third AC and chair car?

Passengers travelling in third AC and chair car can carry luggage up to 40 kg. Apart from this, you can also carry 10 kg extra luggage with you, for which no charge will be levied.

Luggage limit in sleeper and second class

If you are travelling in sleeper coach, you can easily carry up to 40 kg of luggage. Also, you are allowed to carry 10 kg extra luggage without any charge. Whereas, in second class (general) coach, you can carry up to 35 kg luggage and 10 kg extra luggage with you.

How much will be the fine for carrying more luggage than the limit?

If a passenger travels in a train with more luggage than the prescribed limit and has not paid the booking charges in advance, he has to pay a penalty. According to the rules of the Railways, a penalty of 6 times the booking charge for the extra luggage will be levied.

Know these rules before traveling

If you are going to travel by train and you have a lot of luggage, it would be better if you go to the railway luggage booking counter and pay the charges in advance. This will save you from fines and your journey will be comfortable.
