Muharram Holiday For Schools: There is confusion in the minds of people about the holiday on Monday of Muharram.
On one hand there is talk of holiday on the occasion of Muharram, on the other hand there are reports of many schools, offices and banks being open. In such a situation, the question arising in the minds of common people, especially parents, employees and bank customers is whether there is a holiday on Monday or not?
Muharram was celebrated yesterday
The first month of the Islamic calendar is Muharram and its 10th day is called Roz-e-Ashura, which is very important for the Islamic community. This year the moon of Muharram was seen on 26 June and on this basis the 10th day i.e. Ashura is falling on 6 July 2025 (Sunday). That is, the main day of Muharram is being celebrated today.
Is 7th July a holiday?
There has been no central or national level announcement regarding the holiday on Monday, July 7.
However, the Rajasthan government has declared a public holiday on July 7 for Muharram. It is clear from this that this holiday can be given locally in some states and regions, but not everywhere.
Will banks be closed on 7th July?
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday list for 2025, there is no public bank holiday on July 7. This means that banks across the country will remain open as usual, unless a local holiday is declared in a particular state.
Will schools and offices open or not?
Muharram holiday in schools and private institutions depends on the location and their management’s decision. In states or cities where Muharram is being observed on July 6 (like in most places), schools and offices are more likely to remain open on July 7. However, many private institutions or schools have holidays on July 7 as per local tradition.
