Under this, customers have been asked to be careful about fake messages being spread in the name of the bank. The bank said fake messages containing “130th Anniversary Government Financial Subsidy of PNB” are being circulated on digital platforms. The bank has termed this message as fake and has asked customers to beware of such messages.
What did the bank say?
In its official statement, the bank said, “These are fake messages and PNB brand name is being used for fraud. Sometimes financial scams can be carried out by stealing your identity through these fraud messages. Advised the public that there is a need to be careful and vigilant about such fake messages, especially those circulating through social media and other channels like WhatsApp.

The bank further added, “As a precautionary measure, we urge our customers not to disclose any confidential/personal/financial information through phone calls or emails. Do not download, even if they appear legitimate.”
The central bank RBI has issued advisory several times in view of the increasing incidents of online fraud. A top RBI official said that the increasing cases of online fraud in the banking system is a matter of concern. To solve this, there is a dire need to spread awareness among the people.
