The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially updated the timeline for the RRB Group D Recruitment 2026 (Centralised Employment Notification No. 09/2025). The application process for approximately 22,000 Level-1 posts has been pushed back by 10 days to ensure a smoother registration window.

Candidates should mark these updated dates to avoid missing the deadline:

2. Vacancy & Department Breakdown

The recruitment aims to fill 22,000+ positions across various technical and non-technical departments.

  • Engineering Department: ~12,500 posts (Highest allocation).

  • Track Maintainer Grade-4: ~11,000 posts.

  • Other Key Roles: Assistant Pointsman, Assistant (S&T), Assistant (C&W), Assistant (Bridge), and Assistant Loco Shed.

  • Regional Highlights: East Central Railway (993 posts) and South Eastern Railway (1,199 posts).

3. Eligibility & Selection Criteria

Educational Qualification (The ITI Factor)

There has been some confusion regarding the mandatory nature of ITI. As per the latest indicative notice:

  • General Rule: Class 10th Pass (Matriculation) from a recognized board OR ITI from NCVT/SCVT OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC).

  • Technical Posts: For specific roles in Civil, Mechanical, and S&T departments, an ITI or NAC may be mandatory. The detailed notification (expected Jan 30) will clarify post-wise requirements.

Age Limit (as of Jan 1, 2026)

  • General/EWS: 18 – 33 years (Revised to 36 years in some regional notices due to a one-time COVID relaxation).

  • OBC (Non-Creamy): 3 years relaxation.

  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation.


4. Mandatory Aadhaar Verification

The RRB has mandated Aadhaar-based biometric verification to prevent impersonation…

Important: Your Name and Date of Birth in Aadhaar must match your Class 10 certificate exactly. If they don’t, update your Aadhaar immediately to avoid application rejection.
