New Delhi. Bank employees will get ample holidays in the last month of this year, i.e. December. Banks will have 17 days of holidays in December. Apart from weekly holidays, banks will remain closed for more than half the days next month due to national and regional holidays.

Banks remain closed every Sunday and second and fourth Saturday of the month. Apart from this, banks are also closed on many festivals and some special days. Reserve Bank of India releases a list of bank holidays every year.

RBI’s list includes both national and regional holidays. On national holidays, all banks across the country remain closed. Regional holidays are related to a particular state or region. On these days, only the banks of the respective state or region remain closed. A bank holiday on a particular day in one state does not mean that there will be a holiday in another state as well. Therefore, it is worth noting here that banks will not remain closed for 17 days across the country in December.

December 2024 Bank Holiday List

1 December 2024 – Sunday – All banks across the country will remain closed due to weekly holiday.
December 3 (Friday): Holiday in Goa on account of feast of Saint Francis Xavier.
8 December 2024 – Sunday – Weekly Holiday.
December 12 (Tuesday): Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya on account of Pa-togan Nengminja Sangma.
14 December 2024- Second Saturday – Weekly Holiday.
15 December 2024- Sunday – Weekly Holiday.
December 18 (Wednesday): Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya on account of death anniversary of U Soso Tham.
December 19 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed in Goa on account of Goa Liberation Day.
22 December 2024 – Sunday – Weekly Holiday
December 24 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed in Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya.
December 25 (Wednesday): Banks will remain closed across the country due to Christmas.
December 26 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed in Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya.
December 27 (Friday): There will be a bank holiday in the state of Nagaland due to Christmas celebrations.
28 December 2024 – 4th Saturday – Weekly Holiday.
29 December 2024 – Sunday – Weekly Holiday.
December 30 (Monday): Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya on account of U Kiang Nangbah festival.
December 31 (Tuesday): Bank holiday in Mizoram and Sikkim on account of New Year’s Eve/Lossong/Namsoong.

Bank Holiday: The month of December is coming. Banks in the country will remain closed for 17 days in the month of December. 17 days of holidays in December including weekend holidays.

Next month there will be 5 Sundays, so bank employees will get 7 days weekly holiday instead of 6 days. Other banks will be closed in the month of December due to Christmas festival and local holidays. These 17-day holidays are not going to happen simultaneously in all the states.
