Now, with the expansion of the Magenta Line under Phase 5A, this station will become a triple interchange.

Magenta Line to be extended

According to the DMRC, the Central Vista Corridor from RK Ashram to Indraprastha in Phase 5A has been approved. As part of this, the Magenta Line will be extended. Currently, Magenta Line passengers have to change metro lines to reach the Central Secretariat. However, after the extension, Magenta Line trains will also stop directly at this station. This will save passengers time and make travel more convenient.

Dependence on private vehicles will be reduced

The DMRC says interchange stations are built in strategic areas to encourage people to prefer public transport over private vehicles. A large number of government offices are located around the Central Secretariat, where thousands of people commute daily by car and two-wheelers. The addition of the Magenta Line will further strengthen metro access, potentially reducing private vehicle use and pollution.

According to the DMRC, several new triple interchange stations will also be introduced under Metro Phase 4. Currently, there are 29 interchange stations in the Delhi Metro network. This number will increase to 43 upon completion of Phase 4, while the total number of interchange stations will increase to 46 with Phase 5A.

DMRC posted on X (formerly Twitter) that till 6:25 am, the metro will run on this section at an interval of 35 minutes. However, there is no change in the timing of the first metro from the terminal stations of the Yellow Line – Millennium City Centre Gurugram and Samaypur Badli.

Which stations will be affected?

Delhi Metro said in a social media post that this will affect the metro trains running between Kashmiri Gate and Central Secretariat, while the first trains from Samaypur Badli and Vishwavidyalaya will run on time. Apart from this, services will remain normal at other Yellow Line stations.

DMRC also informed that the first metro train from Central Secretariat to Samaypur Badli will now depart at 05:55 am, instead of 05:45 am earlier.

What is RYDR service?

RYDR is a general bike taxi service, which is available for all passengers. Any passenger, be it male or female, can avail this service.

What will the fare be?

The minimum fare for the RYDR service will be Rs 10. Rs 10 will be charged per kilometer for the first 2 km. After this, Rs 8 per kilometer will be charged for every additional kilometer. The fare for the SHERYDS service may also be similar, although its detailed details have not been shared yet.

Where can I get a bike taxi?

This bike taxi service will currently be available at 12 major metro stations in Delhi, including Dwarka Sector-21, 10, 14, Dwarka Mor, Janakpuri West, Uttam Nagar East, Rajouri Garden, Subhash Nagar, Kirti Nagar, Karol Bagh Millennium City Centre, Gurugram and Palam. 50 SHERYDS and 150 RYDR bike taxis will be available within a radius of 3-5 kilometers of these stations. Information provided by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said that these QR code based tickets of metro can be booked from IRCTC website up to 120 days in advance i.e. about 4 months in advance and will remain valid for the next 4 days. So that even if the train is getting delayed, this ticket does not go waste and passengers can avail its benefits.

Thus, metro train services will start at 2:30 pm from terminal stations on all lines on March 25 and will continue normally thereafter.

The Union Cabinet led by PM Modi approved this project on Wednesday. This will bring big changes in the infrastructure of cities. A total of Rs 8,399 crore will be spent on these two corridors. Out of this, the Central Government will raise Rs 4,309 crore, the remaining money will be raised through Delhi Government and international funding.

Indralok-Indraprastha corridor is being prepared as an extension of the Green Line. It will cross six other lines, which will increase the connectivity of the entire network. On the other hand, Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor will be completely elevated and it will connect four lines.

There will be eight elevated stations in the metro corridor from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block. This metro will pass through important areas like Andrews Ganj and Greater Kailash-1. Eight new interchange stations will be built on this corridor. After which the connectivity of the existing metro network will also increase.

A total of 65 kilometers of new corridor is being built during the fourth phase of Delhi Metro. These corridors will also be a part of this. These will be expanded in different phases and a target has been set to complete them by March 2026. Union Minister Anurag Thakur had told that the route from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G block will be 8.4 kilometers long. The length of Indralok to Indraprastha line will be 12.4 kilometers.

The extension of Indralok-Indraprastha corridor will connect with Red, Yellow, Airport Line, Magenta, Violet and Blue Line. Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor will connect Silver, Magenta, Pink and Violet Lines.

This important decision is expected to make the journey of about 2.5 lakh passengers more convenient every day. This ambitious metro project is estimated to cost a huge amount of Rs 8,600 crore.

The Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor will cover a distance of 8 km and will have eight stations, while the Indralok-Indraprastha line will be 12 km long and will have 10 stations. These new lines will provide direct connectivity and reduce travel time for passengers, eliminating the need for long detours.

• This line will connect the silver, magenta, pink and violet lines
• It will be completely elevated and will have eight stations

Airport advisory

In view of the march towards Delhi on February 13, Delhi Airport has issued an advisory for passengers on Monday. The advisory urges passengers to plan their journey accordingly and stay updated about possible delays and alternative routes.

Passengers were asked to avoid road routes and use Delhi Metro for transportation. The airport recommends using the Magenta Line for Terminal 1 (T1) or the Airport Metro for Terminal 3 (T3) to ensure timely arrival and convenient transportation options.

Advisory regarding metro station

In view of the farmers’ march towards the national capital, at least one or more gates on any side were closed at nine stations of Delhi Metro on Tuesday morning. However, these stations are not closed and passengers are allowed to enter and exit except at other stations and closed exits.

On the instructions of police officials, the metro gates have been closed due to security arrangements. According to media reports, many gates of many stations, including stations like Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Udyog Bhawan, Janpath and Barakhamba Road, Lok Kalyan Marg, have been closed. A gate of Khan Market metro station was also closed on Tuesday.

Farmers march towards Delhi

The Punjab-Haryana border has been fortified. Farmers are being stopped from coming to Delhi. For this, there are complete preparations on the Delhi border also. Authorities in Haryana have sealed the state’s borders with Punjab at several places in Ambala, Jind, Fatehabad, Kurukshetra and Sirsa, using concrete blocks, iron nails and barbed wire to thwart the proposed march.

Riot control vehicles including water cannons have also been deployed at many places on the Punjab and Haryana border. There is tension on the Shambhu border. The police have released tear gas shells there.

According to the DMRC report, trains will remain closed till 7 am from the start of train service from Ramesh Nagar to Kirti Nagar. With this, the Moti Nagar metro station will remain closed till the start of train services i.e. 7 am.

To undertake scheduled track maintenance work between Moti Nagar & Kirti Nagar on Blue Line (Dwarka Sec 21-Noida Electronic City/Vaishali), train services will remain suspended from Ramesh Nagar to Kirti Nagar from start of revenue services till 7AM on morning of 13th Nov 2022.

DMRC has increased the number of coaches on the Red Line. A total of 78 coaches are planned to be added in 39 trains on this route of Delhi Metro. All these coaches have been procured from M/s Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML). DMRC said that this will make the journey of those traveling by metro easier.

More than 4.7 lakh passengers travel here every day

According to DMRC, this is one of the oldest routes of Delhi Metro, where the number of additional coaches has been increased. Red Line 4 serves 4.7 lakh passengers every day from the existing interchange stations Welcome, Kashmere Gate, Indralok and Netaji Subhash Place. In such a situation, increasing the number of coaches will help in reducing the congestion during the journey.

Work will be completed by 2024

These additional coaches will increase the carrying capacity of Red Line (Line-1), which was extended up to Shaheed Sthal New Bus Adda in Ghaziabad in the year 2019 and has a total length of about 34 km. The work of converting 6-coach trains to 8-coach trains on the Red Line is likely to be completed by 2024.

It is worth noting that last year, all the 6-coach trains were changed to Yellow Line (Line-2 i.e. Samaypur Badli to HUDA City Centre) and Blue Line (ie Line-3/4 Dwarka Sector-21 to Noida Electronic City and Vaishali) for 6. Successfully completed by adding additional coaches to its remaining fleet of coached trains.
