The Ministry of Finance has announced a change in the interest rates of small savings schemes for the July-September quarter. Under this change, Recurring Deposit of 5 years has been made more attractive. The government increased its interest rates by a whopping 30 basis points. Now instead of 6.2 percent interest will be given on the recurring deposit of the post office at 6.5 percent. Apart from this, the interest rate has also been increased by 10 basis points on time deposits of 1 year, 2 years.

New interest rate effective from 1 July 2023

The new interest rate on Post Office Recurring Deposit is effective from 1 July 2023, which will remain till 30 September 2023. This is a scheme which is meant for medium term investors. 6.5 percent interest is available annually, but the calculation is done on the basis of quarterly compound. A minimum of Rs.100 and thereafter any amount in multiples of Rs.100 can be deposited. Let us tell you that the recurring deposit of the post office other than the bank is only for 5 years. Later it can be extended again for 5 years. During the extension, only the old interest rates will be available.

By depositing 10 thousand you will get 7.10 lakh

According to the Post Office RD Calculator, if an investor deposits 10 thousand rupees every month, then after five years he will get 7 lakh 10 thousand rupees. His total deposit capital will be Rs 6 lakh and the interest component will be around Rs 1 lakh 10 thousand.

By which date it is necessary to submit the installment

If you also want to open a Recurring Deposit account in the post office, then tell that if the account is opened between 1-15th, then it will have to be deposited by 15th of every month. If the account is opened in a month after 15th, then the installment will have to be deposited by the end of every month.

Haste of 1 day will cause big loss

Loan facility is also available after depositing 12 installments. The rate of interest will be 2 percent more than the RD account interest rate. If the account is closed even 1 day before 5 years, then the benefit of only savings account interest will be available. Right now the interest rate on savings account is 4 percent.

You must have also used FASTag to pay toll while traveling on highways. With the introduction of Fastag, there has been a big change in the system of toll collection.

It has not only reduced the travel time by eliminating long queues, but also made the collection of toll fees transparent. Now parking charges can also be deposited with this fastag. It has already been started.

Started from this airport

According to a PTI report, the ‘Automated Car Parking System’ has started at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow from Tuesday with the introduction of ‘FASTag solution’. Be it people coming to the airport to see off their relatives or to pick them up, all of them can take advantage of the ‘FASTag Parking’ facility. Fastag is India’s electronic toll system.

separate lane for fastag

Sharing details about the FASTag technology, a spokesperson of Lucknow airport said, “The FASTag service is part of its continuous efforts to benefit passengers. To facilitate quick movement, the airport has earmarked two lanes at entry and exit for passengers using the FASTag option. Vehicle movement with FASTag will be faster and the dwell time for passengers waiting to enter/exit the airport will be reduced, thus helping in saving time and fuel.

Parking fee will be deducted in this way

According to the statement, the main advantage of Fastag is that it will minimize the need for cash transactions. The scanner at the entry will read the FASTag of the vehicle and record the time of entry. After that, at the time of leaving the airport, the second scanner installed at the exit will automatically deduct the parking fee. Passengers paying through this medium will have to ensure that there is sufficient balance in their FASTag.

Commuters’ time will be saved

Neeraj Tralashwala of ICICI Bank was also present on this occasion. He said, we are very happy to introduce FASTag based payment for parking at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, Lucknow. This facility will provide a seamless experience to the users, reduce dependence on cash and save their time.

The post FASTag Parking Payment: New Update!

In view of the opposition to the decision to impose 20 percent tax collection at source (TCS) on credit or debit card payments abroad, the Finance Ministry issued a clarification today.

The ministry said that if a person spends up to Rs 7 lakh abroad with an international credit or debit card, he will not have to pay TCS. Meaning that the expenditure up to 7 lakhs has been excluded from the purview of the Liberalized Remittance Scheme (LRS) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

According to a media report, the Finance Ministry clarified, “Concerns have been raised regarding the applicability of Tax Collection at Source (TCS) for small transactions under the Liberalized Remittance Scheme (LRS) from July 1, 2023. In order to avoid any procedural ambiguity, it has now been prescribed that the amount spent by an individual using his international debit or credit card in a financial year up to Rs.7 lakh has been excluded from the LRS limit, And hence TCS will not have to be paid on it.

Notifying the Foreign Exchange Management Amendment Rules 2023, the Finance Ministry on Tuesday announced the inclusion of expenses incurred abroad through international credit cards in the Liberalized Remittance Scheme (LRS). Its purpose was to ensure that such expenses come under the ambit of Tax Collection at Source (TCS).

Earlier card payment was not in the ambit of LRS

Prior to this notification, international credit card payments for expenses incurred while traveling abroad were not eligible for LRS. The Finance Ministry, in consultation with the RBI, issued a notification and removed section 7 of the Foreign Exchange Management Rules, 2000. Due to this, payments made abroad through international credit cards also came under the ambit of LRS.

New tax rate will be applicable from July 1

Earlier this year, in the budget presented for 2023-24, the TCS rate was increased from 5 percent to 20 percent. The new tax rate is going to be implemented from July 1, 2023. Under this, except for education and medical expenses, it has been said that these rules will be applicable on foreign tour packages or other expenses under LRS.
