Gold Silver Rate Today 21 Jan: The strong rise in the prices of gold and silver continued on Wednesday, 21 January. This rise is being seen due to the increase in demand for safe investments due to global uncertainty. In today’s trade, gold with February contract delivery on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) made a new record at ₹ 1,54,710 per 10 grams with a stormy rise of Rs 4100 or 3 percent. Similarly, there was a good increase in the March contract delivery of silver also. The price of silver rose by more than 2,800 or about 1% and reached a new all-time high of ₹ 3,26,487 per kg.

Prices at record levels in the global market too

Gold is also trading at record highs in the global market. In the international market, US gold futures gained nearly 2% to reach $4,847.20 per troy ounce. This rise is being attributed to fears of a growing trade war between the US and the European Union, a weak dollar, and strong retail demand in the domestic market. Investors are viewing gold as a safe-haven investment amid uncertainty.

According to Good Returns, on Wednesday, January 21, 24 carat gold is being sold at Rs 1,55,460 and 22 carat gold at Rs 1,42,500 in Chennai. Whereas, in Mumbai, the price of 24 carat gold was recorded at Rs 1,54,800, while 22 carat gold was recorded at Rs 1,41,900. In Delhi, 24 carat gold is being sold at Rs 1,54,950 and 22 carat gold at Rs 1,42,050 per 10 grams. In Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kerala and Pune, the price of 24 carat gold was recorded at Rs 1,54,800 and 22 carat gold at Rs 1,41,900 per 10 grams. Apart from this, 24 carat gold is being sold at Rs 1,54,850 and 22 carat gold at Rs 1,41,950 per 10 grams in Vadodara and Ahmedabad.

Gold Silver Rate Today on 16 October: Gold and silver prices hit new record highs on Thursday, ahead of Dhanteras. This surge was driven by positive global cues, strong domestic demand, and a weak dollar. Gold with December expiry date rose by ₹1,200, or 1 percent, to reach an all-time high of ₹1,28,395 per 10 grams on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). Silver with December expiry date also rose by ₹1,900, or 1 percent, to reach ₹1,64,150 per kg on the MCX.

Gold Rate in Delhi: Gold and silver prices are witnessing a steady rise due to heavy demand from retailers and jewelry sellers ahead of Dhanteras and Diwali. On Tuesday, gold crossed the ₹130,000 mark per 10 grams in the bullion market in the national capital, Delhi.

Latest Prices of 24 and 22 Carat Gold
According to the All India Sarafa Association, the price of 99.9 percent pure gold rose by ₹2,850 to a record high of ₹1,30,800 per 10 grams (including all taxes), compared to its previous closing price of ₹1,27,950. Gold of 99.5 percent purity also rose by ₹2,850 to a new record high of ₹1,30,200 per 10 grams (including all taxes), compared to its previous closing price of ₹1,27,350 per 10 grams.

Silver price crosses ₹1.85 lakh mark
Silver also rose by ₹6,000 to an all-time high of ₹1,85,000 per kilogram (including all taxes). This is the fifth consecutive day of gains. It had closed at ₹1,79,000 per kilogram in the previous trading session.

Reasons for the rise
Traders attribute the sharp rise in bullion prices to sustained demand from jewelers and retailers ahead of the festive and wedding season. The rupee’s weakening against the dollar on Tuesday also played a significant role. Today, the rupee fell 12 paise to an all-time low of 88.80.

International Market Gold and Silver Rates
Spot gold prices fell below their record highs in the international market, but prices remained high. After touching an all-time high of $4,179.71 per ounce earlier in the day, it was trading 0.72 percent higher at $4,140.34 per ounce. Spot silver also fell after touching an all-time high of $53.54 per ounce. It closed down 1.92 percent at $51.36 per ounce.

According to the All India Sarafa Association, gold of 99.9 per cent purity closed at Rs 96,450 per 10 grams on Tuesday. Gold prices had recorded their biggest single-day rise on April 11, when it jumped by Rs 6,250 in local markets.

So far this year, gold prices have risen by Rs 18,710 or 23.56 per cent from the level of Rs 79,390 per 10 grams on January 1. Gold of 99.5 per cent purity also rose by Rs 1,650 to a new high of Rs 97,650 per 10 grams, compared to its previous closing price of Rs 96,000 per 10 grams.

Apart from this, silver prices increased by Rs 1,900 to Rs 99,400 per kg. On Tuesday, silver had closed at Rs 97,500 per kg.

“Gold once again rallied strongly… MCX gold touched a historic high of Rs 95,000 while COMEX gold crossed $3,300, indicating strong safe-haven demand,” said Jatin Trivedi, Vice President (Research Analyst) of Commodities and Currencies, LKP Securities.

Trivedi said the rise was due to geopolitical uncertainty and the absence of any constructive progress in tariff talks between the US and China. Unless there is a tangible result of reducing tensions, gold is likely to remain at higher levels.

Globally, spot gold hit a record high of $3,318 an ounce. Later, it pared some gains and traded at $3,299.99 an ounce.

Silver rose nearly two percent to $32.86 an ounce in Asian trading hours.

Market participants are now monitoring macroeconomic data, including US retail sales and industrial production, for further signals on the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate cycle, said Sawmil Gandhi, senior commodity analyst at HDFC Securities.
