Mumbai Airport : Traveling from Mumbai Airport will become expensive. If you are going to travel from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, then your pocket will now be burdened more than before.

The Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has approved the increase in User Development Fee (UDF). The new rates will come into effect from May 16, 2025 and this system will remain effective till March 31, 2029.

Increase in UDF for domestic passengers

Till now, domestic passengers flying from Mumbai airport had to pay Rs 120 as UDF. But according to the new rates, this amount has been increased to Rs 175. At the same time, passengers who land in Mumbai will have to pay Rs 75 per passenger as UDF.

International travelers are more affected

UDF for international flights is now divided according to travel class.

For economy class passengers, this fee will be Rs 615 per passenger.

Whereas business class passengers will have to pay Rs 695 per passenger.

Earlier this fee was Rs 260 (economy) and Rs 304 (business) respectively. This means that international passengers will now have to pay almost double the burden.

Relief for airlines: Landing and parking charges cut

Although the burden on passengers has increased, airlines have got some relief. The regulator has reduced landing and parking charges for airlines, so that the operational cost of air travel can be reduced. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the competition at the same airports.

Why did AERA take this decision?

AERA said in the statement that this revision has been done to keep aviation operations balanced and efficient. An attempt has been made to ensure equitable and fair distribution of charges among all stakeholders.

Airport Closed: Flight operations at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will be suspended for six hours today (Thursday, May 8) due to scheduled runway maintenance.

The airport’s private operator Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) announced this on April 19. MIAL said that NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) was issued six months ago to inform all concerned. This gave airlines enough time to revise their flight schedules and make necessary arrangements.

The essential pre-monsoon maintenance will take place from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Thursday. This will affect both the runways of the airport – 09/27 (primary runway) and 14/32 (secondary runway). During this period, no flights will take off as both runways will be out of operation. “This annual pre-monsoon maintenance is important to maintain the airport’s infrastructure,” the operator said.

Meanwhile, more than 300 flights have been cancelled due to restrictions imposed after the Indian Army launched missile attacks on terrorist camps in Pakistan. At least 25 airports, including Srinagar, have been temporarily closed. Air India, Indigo, SpiceJet, Air India Express, Akasa Air and some foreign airlines have cancelled their services to various airports.

Sources told news agency PTI that at least 25 airports in northern and western parts of India have been temporarily closed. These include Srinagar, Leh, Jammu, Amritsar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Shimla, Dharamshala and Jamnagar.

According to a source, more than 300 flights to and from various airports have been cancelled by the airline. IndiGo said it has cancelled more than 165 flights from various domestic airports, including Amritsar and Srinagar, till the morning of May 10 due to airspace restrictions.

Sources said around 140 flights of the Air India Group (Air India and Air India Express) have been cancelled. The airline said, “Following the notification by aviation authorities regarding closure of Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot airports, Air India flights to and from these stations are being cancelled till 5:29 am Indian time on May 10.”

IndiGo said in a statement, “Due to the government notification on airspace restrictions, more than 165 IndiGo flights from several airports (Amritsar, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Gwalior, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, Leh, Rajkot and Srinagar) have been cancelled till 5:29 am on May 10, 2025.” IndiGo operates around 2,200 flights daily.

Mumbai Airport: Flight operations at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will be closed for six hours on May 8. Flight operations at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will be closed for six hours on May 8 due to runway maintenance work ahead of the onset of the monsoon season, private operator MIAL said, according to news agency PTI.

The scheduled temporary closure is a part of CSMIA’s annual post-monsoon maintenance plan. Mumbai is the second busiest airport in the country after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Mumbai Airport: Mandatory notice issued six months in advance

According to news agency PTI, Mumbai International Airport Limited announced that it has issued the mandatory notice (notice to airmen) six months in advance. This has given everyone enough time to adjust flight schedules and plan operations.

Both runways will be temporarily closed from 11am to 5pm as part of the airport’s annual pre-monsoon maintenance. MIAL stressed that maintenance is essential for the safety, efficiency and longevity of the airport’s airside infrastructure. During this period, experts will thoroughly inspect the runway surface for any signs of wear and tear. Preventive measures will also be implemented to minimise the risk of waterlogging in the upcoming monsoon season, ensuring safe landings and take-offs.

It is known that repairs are done every year to ensure that the airport’s operations are not disrupted due to seasonal effects. Mumbai is one of the major metropolises of the country, where heavy rains occur every year. The residents of the city often have to face floods, which sometimes halts transport services. Air traffic is also affected by rain. The airport administration wants to make Mumbai airport capable of meeting global standards, for which it is necessary that the infrastructure remains good. In such a situation, repair work should be done from time to time.

Mumbai Airport: In order to ensure the safe operation of flights from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, the police has taken a major decision on Wednesday. The order has been issued.

Para-gliding will be banned in the Free Flight Zone near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai for two months. Apart from this, there will also be a ban on balloons and light-emitting objects. Mumbai Police has imposed this ban. The police officer told on Wednesday that this order will be applicable from June 23 to August 21. Behind this decision of the Mumbai Police, it is being said that there is a possible danger to the planes, so this order has been issued for security reasons.

The Mumbai Police official told that under this order, it will not be allowed to shoot very high fireworks, kites and laser beams. This order has been issued by the DCP (Operation) of Mumbai Police. The order said that it has been reported that there is movement of aircraft in the free flight zone around the airport, Juhu Aerodrome and Naval Air Station INS Shikra due to para-gliding, flying of balloons, overhead fireworks, light emitting objects and kite flying. Safe operation may be at risk. In view of the order being issued from Friday, preparations are being made by the Mumbai Police and people are being informed about it.

In this appeal of Mumbai Police to the common citizens,

it has been said in the report that the landing, take-off and safe flight of the aircraft should not be affected due to these items. Therefore, there was an urgent need for such action. On the basis of the report, prohibitory orders have been imposed immediately for 60 days. Citing the order, the police officer said that if any person sees something that any such activity is being done for the purpose of obstructing the flight, then immediately inform the nearest police station.

The post Mumbai Airport: Mumbai Police has banned paragliding in the free flight zone around the airport for so many days first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

Mumbai has come to a standstill due to the heavy rains and strong winds caused by Biparjoy. An atmosphere of anxiety and panic was witnessed at the Mumbai airport as hundreds of passengers waited for hours for their flights. Several flights were canceled or delayed due to weather conditions, while some had to abort their landings.

Air India tweeted, “Apart from inclement weather conditions and temporary closure of runway 09/27 at Mumbai airport, some of our flights have been delayed and canceled as a result of other consequential factors beyond our control. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our guests, as we are making every effort to minimize disruption.”

New Delhi. The country’s second busiest airport will be closed for 6 hours next month. All flights will be suspended due to maintenance work at Mumbai airport. The private airport operator has given this information.

According to the airport operator Adani Group, both the intersecting runways of the Mumbai airport will be repaired on October 18, 2022. About 800 flights are operated daily from its main runway 9/27 and other runway 14/32. In terms of movement of such a large number of aircraft, Mumbai Airport comes second after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

When will the airport be closed

Adani Group said that on October 18, the runway will be closed from 11 am to 5 pm due to runway repair work. It is part of the runway repairs done every year post monsoon, so that the faulty rain can be repaired again. During the repair, the edge light of runway 14/32 will also be fixed and the aeronautical ground light will also be upgraded.

What is the effect on passengers

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has said that all flights have already been rescheduled for the convenience of passengers during the closure of the runway. Due to this, passengers will not be inconvenienced even though flights are affected during maintenance. All flights between 11 am and 5 pm on 18 October have been rescheduled to any earlier or later time. Due to this, passengers will not face any problem in reaching their destination.

Mumbai Airport with a capacity of 90 million passengers operates the second highest number of flights in the country. When this airport works at its full capacity, it can handle the movement of 90 million passengers annually. After the Corona epidemic, there was a huge reduction in flights due to the ban, but now the number of passengers has started increasing again. A record 1,30,374 passengers arrived at the Mumbai airport in a single day on September 17, which is the highest after the Corona epidemic.

The post Flight Suspend: Mumbai airport will be closed on this day, all flights will be suspended for 6 hours, what is the reason for this? first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.
