About the scheme

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 1, 2016. Under this scheme, the government had set a target of providing 5 crore LPG connections to poor families. Subsequently, the target was increased to 8 crore, which was achieved on September 7, 2019, seven months ahead of the target.

PMUY Phase-2 (Ujjwala 2.0) was launched in August 2021 and 1.60 crore Ujjwala 2.0 connections have been issued till January 2023. Apart from this, in September 2023, the government approved the release of additional 75 lakh PMUY connections. The work of issuing these 75 lakh PMUY connections was completed during July 2024. These are the terms and conditions

There are some conditions to avail the benefits of this scheme. The applicant must be a citizen of India. Apart from this, the applicant must be a member of a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family. At the same time, the applicant should not already have an LPG connection. Necessary documents- Aadhar card and ration card, bank account details are necessary.

Three to four days after paying the full amount of the gas cylinder, the subsidy amount will be sent by the oil companies to the bank account of the consumers. Consumers without Aadhaar authentication in the scheme will be deprived of this benefit. There are 2,19667 consumers of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana from various oil companies in the district. Out of these, e-KYC work of 1,84039 consumers has been completed, while Aadhaar authentication of 35628 consumers could not be done. For this, instructions have been given by the DSO to all gas agencies to get 100% Aadhaar authentication done for the beneficiaries.

The central government has prepared a plan to provide free LPG cylinders to the beneficiaries twice a year on the festivals of Holi and Diwali. Under this, the consumer will have to pay for the gas cylinder in cash at the concerned gas agency. The subsidy amount will be transferred to the bank account of the consumers three to four days after the payment. To make the scheme effective and transparent, Aadhaar authentication has been made mandatory.

In this, e-KYC of consumers is being done by organizing camps by the supply department and gas agencies. Currently, out of 219667 consumers, e-KYC of only 184035 consumers has been done. Only those consumers with Aadhaar authentication will be able to get the benefit of free LPG cylinder under the scheme on Diwali. DSO Shivi Garg said that only those consumers whose bank accounts are linked to their Aadhaar card and whose Aadhaar is certified will be able to take advantage of this scheme. Under the scheme, Ujjwala beneficiaries will be given a cylinder of 14.2 kg gas.

Consumers are also being constantly made aware about this. That consumers should contact the concerned gas distributor agency and complete the Aadhaar authentication process, so that they can avail the benefit of free LPG cylinder being provided by the government on the festival of Diwali.

• Enter the 17 digit LPG ID in the space provided on the right.
• Enter your registered mobile number, punch the captcha code and proceed.
• You will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number.
• After going to the next page, enter your email ID and create a password.
• An activation link will be sent to the email id. Click the link.
• After completing the above process, your account will be activated.
