Indian Oil (IOCL) chairman Shrikant Madhav (Shrikant Madhav Vaidya) told that in the next three months all domestic gas cylinders will have QR code. On the occasion of World LPG Week 2022, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that this is a revolutionary change as customers will be able to track LPG cylinders.
QR code will be welded on the new cylinder, he told that through the QR code, customers will be able to get complete information about the cylinder. For example, where has the cylinder been refilled and what safety tests have been done related to the cylinder. The QR code will be pasted through the label on the existing cylinder, while it will be welded on the new cylinder.
QR code embedded 20 thousand LPG cylinders issued
Under unit code based track, 20 thousand LPG cylinders embedded with QR code were issued in the first phase. Explain that this is a type of barcode, which can be read by a digital device. Puri said that in the next three months, all 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders will be fitted with a QR code.
