According to the Passport Seva website, you need to submit any three of the below documents while applying for a tatkal passport:

  • Aadhaar Card or E-Aadhaar
  • Voter ID
  • Service ID of Government or Private Company
  • Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC)
  • Pension related documents (eg pension book)
  • PAN card
  • Valid Driving License

Charges for Tatkal Passport

According to the Passport India website, the charges levied under the Tatkal scheme are as follows:

How much time does it take to get instant passport?

According to the passport service website, when your application form is successfully submitted, its final status appears as ‘Granted’. After this, you can expect your passport to be dispatched on the third working day excluding the date of submission of the application. Police verification report is not awaited for this.

Who does not get instant passport?

  • People who are children of Indian parents but were born outside India.
  • People who have been granted citizenship by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
  • If you want to change your name in your passport under Tatkal scheme.
  • Residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Children who are adopted by Indian or foreign parents.
  • Children whose parents are separated but not divorced.
