Undoubtedly, NHAI has stipulated that all persons using the road will be taxed equally, yet there is a list of people who are exempted from toll tax.

  • -President of India
  • -Vice President of India
  • -Prime Minister of India
  • -Chief Justice of India
  • -Speaker of Lok Sabha
  • -Governors of States
  • -Chief Ministers of States
  • -Judges of Supreme Court
  • -Judges of High Court
  • -Members of Parliament (MPs)
  • -Members of Legislative Councils (MLCs) of States
  • -Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs)

Let us tell you that state leaders generally get this exemption only in their respective states.

  • -Secretaries to the Government of India
  • -Secretaries to the Lok Sabha
  • -Secretaries to the Rajya Sabha
  • -Chiefs of Staff of the Army, Navy and Air Force
  • -Commanders of Command Areas
  • -Chief Secretaries of States -Secretaries
  • of Legislative Assemblies/State Legislative Assemblies

Police also exempted…

  • – Defence Ministry officials coming and going on duty in uniform
  • – Police department officials coming and going on duty in uniform

Emergency services…

ambulances, fire brigades, horse vehicles are also exempted. Apart from this, accredited journalists in states like Madhya Pradesh are also exempted from paying tolls.
