The date for updating Aadhaar card for free has been extended once again. If you want to make some changes in Aadhaar card for free, then you now have a chance of 1 year. After this you may have to pay money.
This information has been shared by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the organization that issues Aadhaar card.
UIDAI has said that this facility is being extended for lakhs of Aadhaar holders. UIDAI said that now Aadhaar holders can update Aadhaar through documents for free till 14 June 2026. Earlier this date was 14 June 2025 i.e. till today. The organization said that it is encouraging to update the documents in the Aadhaar card.
How will Aadhaar be updated for free?
People now have only one way left to update Aadhaar for free. UIDAI has shared information related to this on the social media platform ‘Axe’. It has been told that the facility of free Aadhaar update is available only on the myAadhaar portal. The special thing is that demographic information can be updated through the online portal.
Aadhaar update will be done from CSC center.
To update the Aadhaar card, documents related to address proof and identity proof will have to be uploaded. Thus UIDAI has clarified that updating Aadhaar online will be free for the next one year, but only limited facilities will be available in online update. If an Aadhaar holder wants to get his biometric updated, then he will have to go to the nearest Aadhaar service center and this work can be done after paying the fee.

Aadhaar card should be updated in 10 years.
Some time ago, the government had said that if your Aadhaar card is 10 years old, then you can update it, after which the government started a free service to update Aadhaar. According to the rule, individuals should update their Aadhaar every 10 years. Baal Aadhaar i.e. Aadhaar of children is updated between 5 years to 15 years.
