📝 The 5-Stage Selection Process

The entire recruitment is a multi-stage marathon. You have to qualify in one stage for the next.

  1. Written Test: This is the first hurdle. It’s a 100-mark exam, based on which the merit list is prepared. (See the syllabus details below.)

  2. Physical Standard Test (PST): Height, Chest, and Weight measurements are checked against the above standards.

  3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): The timed running test. Qualify this.

  4. Document Verification: You’ll need all educational certificates, domicile, caste certificates, and documents for the preferential qualification marks.

  5. Medical Examination: The final fitness check.

📚 Written Exam Syllabus Snapshot

While the official notification often focuses on a 100-mark General Knowledge exam, historically, similar UP exams cover four major sections. You should prepare for all of them.

  • General Knowledge/Awareness: Heavy emphasis on Uttar Pradesh specific GK (culture, administration, police system), Current Affairs (National & International), Indian History, Constitution, and basic Science.

  • General Hindi: Grammar, Comprehension, Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms, Idioms).

  • Numerical & Mental Ability: Basic Arithmetic (Percentage, Profit & Loss, Ratio, Time & Work), Simplification, and Data Interpretation.

  • Reasoning & IQ: Logical Diagrams, Relationship Tests (Blood Relation), Direction Sense, Coding-Decoding, and Problem-Solving.

The final merit list will be based on your combined scores from the written test and physical performance, along with any bonus marks.
