Petrol-Diesel Price: After the readjustment of the basic price of fuel by oil marketing companies, there has been a slight increase in the prices of petrol and diesel in Kolkata. In Kolkata, the price of petrol has now gone up to Rs 105.41 per liter and the price of diesel has gone up to Rs 92.02 per liter. An official of a major oil marketing company said, “The price of petrol has increased by 40 paise per liter. While diesel has become costlier by 20 paise per liter. However, in contrast, the price of diesel in Patna saw a decline of 60 paise per liter. While fuel prices remained unchanged in other eastern states.
Review is done from time to time
The basic price (which serves as a benchmark set by oil marketing companies before adding central and state taxes) is reviewed periodically and adjusted based on various operational and logistical factors. While such changes are usually minor, they directly impact the retail price of fuel paid by consumers. This latest increase comes at a time when global crude oil prices have remained relatively stable and consumer inflation remains a concern.
Crude oil prices are at a low level
