Air India: Many international flights of Air India were cancelled on Tuesday. The airline’s international operations have been affected after the accident of Air India’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner in Ahmedabad.
Many flights were cancelled on Tuesday due to technical investigation. Passengers have been given the facility of hotel, refund and rescheduling. At the same time, an Indigo flight had to make an emergency landing in Nagpur after a bomb threat.
Air India’s troubles increased further on Tuesday when seven international flights had to be cancelled due to technical and operational reasons. This is considered to be the most serious crisis after the Tata Group bought the airline. Six flights were cancelled because the DGCA has ordered additional inspection of the Dreamliner fleet. At the same time, the flight from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick was cancelled due to non-availability of aircraft.
On June 12, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft flying from Ahmedabad to London crashed shortly after takeoff. The plane collided with a medical college hostel. 241 passengers and crew were killed in the accident.

Ahmedabad to Gatwick flight cancelled
Air India said that its flight from Ahmedabad to London’s Gatwick Airport has been cancelled. The airline cited the reasons behind this as non-availability of aircraft, restrictions in the airspace and extra precautionary checks. The airline also clarified that this decision was not taken due to any technical fault. Air India apologized for the inconvenience caused to the passengers and said that alternative arrangements are being made to take them to their destination. Hotel arrangements have been made and passengers have also been given the option of refund or free rebooking.
Delhi to Paris flight also cancelled
Air India’s AI143 flight from Delhi to Paris was also cancelled on Tuesday. A technical problem was detected during pre-flight check, which is being fixed now. Along with this, flight AI142 returning from Paris to Delhi has also been cancelled today. Air India said, we regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers and are making all possible alternative arrangements to take them to their destination.
Flight from San Francisco to Mumbai was stopped in Kolkata
In another incident, an Air India flight from San Francisco to Mumbai was halted at Kolkata airport on Tuesday after technical checks. The plane had 228 people on board, including 211 passengers and the rest crew. The plane was scheduled to depart from Kolkata to Mumbai at 2 am on Tuesday but was halted after routine checks revealed problems. The passengers have been accommodated in a hotel but there was a lot of commotion at the Kolkata airport. Usually, the flight goes directly to Mumbai but had to make a technical stop in Kolkata due to Pakistan airspace being closed. Flight AI180 arrived in Kolkata at 12:45 am though the flight from San Francisco was delayed by an hour.
IndiGo flight makes emergency landing in Nagpur
Meanwhile, IndiGo flight 6E 2706 had to make an emergency landing at Nagpur airport. This flight was going from Muscat to Delhi (with a stop in Cochin). This step was taken after a bomb threat was received on the plane.
There was a problem in the Air India Dreamliner plane coming to Delhi
Earlier yesterday, Air India flight AI315 from Hong Kong to Delhi had to return to its original destination after technical problems were suspected mid-flight. This flight AI315 operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner had departed from Hong Kong to Delhi. Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft is being used by Air India in India.
