There is good news for people making UPI payments. Now users will be able to make payments through UPI without entering a PIN. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is preparing to bring biometric updates in UPI, after which payments will be made through the users’ face or finger. However, there will also be an option for a PIN. But, that will be optional.

According to a Business Standard report, with the biometric update in UPI, users will not need to enter a PIN to make payments. They will be able to make payments by using their face or finger. This facility will prove to be more beneficial for those who have trouble remembering many PIN numbers.

Will it work like this?

However, there is no clear information about how this feature will work. But if we speculate according to the old updates, then it is possible that after the biometric update, when you scan OR, you will get the option to enter biometric i.e. finger or face along with the pin. The user will select it. It will be verified. After that the payment will be done.

Safety and access to people

With the arrival of biometric update, it will be easier for less educated people to use UPI. This can increase its service in rural areas. Along with this, people today have many PIN numbers. It is not easy to remember many numbers from phone password to ATM. Therefore, this service can be convenient for all those people who have a lot of PIN numbers. On the other hand, if we talk about safety, then biometric is considered more safe because, in this, no one else can make payment from your UPI account. According to the report, biometric data will be kept in encrypted format, which will make it difficult to access it without the user’s permission.
