Silver prices soften on MCX

Gold prices edged higher, while silver prices edged lower amid rising tensions in the Middle East. Investors are turning to safe havens due to developments in Iran and global uncertainty.

In the international market, spot gold rose 0.49% to $4,489 per ounce. Spot silver fell 0.45% to trade at $73.36 per ounce. In the domestic market, the spot price of gold on MCX closed at Rs 1,54,529 per 10 grams on Wednesday.

In the futures market, gold futures for August delivery closed marginally lower by 0.05% at ₹1,58,445 per 10 grams. Silver for July delivery fell 1.43% to ₹2,62,900 per kg.

Commodity experts say gold is currently trading in a narrow range due to uncertainty surrounding the US and Iran. Rising oil prices have raised inflation concerns, raising the possibility that the US Federal Reserve will keep interest rates elevated for a longer period.

The market is now focused on US employment data, specifically non-farm payrolls and the unemployment rate, to be released this week. These data could impact the dollar, gold, and silver prices. Experts believe that global developments and the direction of US economic data will determine the precious metals’ movement in the coming days.
