AADHAAR: Govt has extended the date for updating Aadhaar details online for free

Aadhar Free Update Deadline : The government has given good news to the common people. The date for updating the information in Aadhaar online for free has been extended.

Earlier the date for free update in Aadhaar was 14 June 2025, which has been extended. Now common people can get free update in Aadhaar online till 14 June 2026.

If the name or address in your Aadhaar card is wrong or there has been a recent change, then there is no need to worry. UIDAI i.e. Unique Identification Authority of India has extended the free facility of Aadhaar card document update by one more year. Now you can update your identity (PoI) and address (PoA) related documents online without any charge till June 14, 2026. Earlier this facility was till June 2025, but now it has been extended by one more year, giving great relief to the people.

Who will benefit?

This facility is especially for those whose name has changed after marriage. Those who have shifted to a new place. Those whose address or other information has changed

What all can be updated online?

According to UIDAI, you can update these things on the online portal.

  • Name (if change is allowed)
  • Address
  • Other demographic details (like gender, date of birth – based on PoI and PoA documents)

But if you want to update your mobile number, email ID, biometric or photo, then you will have to go to the nearest Aadhaar service center. You will have to pay a fixed fee there, which is Rs 50.

How to update Aadhaar online?

  • Visit the website – https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
  • Log in with your Aadhaar number and OTP.
  • Upload PoI and PoA documents (JPEG, PNG or PDF, maximum 2MB).
  • Submit the request and note down the 14-digit URN number.
  • Download the updated Aadhaar after approval.
  • For address update
  • Click on Proceed to Update Address.
  • Enter the new address and upload the relevant documents.
  • Submit and take the URN.

Why is Aadhaar necessary?

Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identification number, which is your identity and address proof. It is linked to many important works like bank account, government subsidy, income tax filing, SIM card. If there is any mistake in your Aadhaar or you need to make changes, then now till 14 June 2026, you can do this work online and absolutely free. You just have to log in to the myAadhaar portal and upload the documents. This step has been taken by UIDAI to benefit crores of people.
