There are many occasions in life when there is a change in the information related to our identity, such as changing the surname of women after marriage. If you are also married and you want to change your surname in your Aadhaar card, then it is important to know what documents are required for this and what is its complete process?

In case of change of surname after marriage, it becomes important to update the surname in Aadhaar card as well. By doing this, there is uniformity in the name and surname in all your documents (such as PAN card, voter ID, bank account etc.), which does not cause any inconvenience in any work in future. If your card is not updated, then many times you may face problems in availing important services.

    Documents required to change surname

The most important and primary document for changing surname in Aadhaar card after marriage is marriage certificate. This certificate is the legal proof that you are married and you have changed your surname.

To update the information in Aadhaar, you have to go to your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra. There you will have to fill a form which will include name, Aadhaar number and other details. Along with this form, you have to attach photocopies of the required documents (such as marriage certificate) and take the original documents along for verification.

After submitting the documents at the center, your biometric details will be taken and your new photo will be taken. Once this process is completed, your information is updated.
