Mumbai Rain Air India Advisory: The havoc of heavy rain and storm in Mumbai is not stopping. Heavy rain is occurring intermittently in the city and suburban areas. Due to which life has become disrupted. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of torrential rain in many districts of Maharashtra including Mumbai.
Visibility reduced due to rain, flight services affected
Due to heavy rain and strong winds, the visibility has become very low. Due to which air traffic has been affected. The aviation company Air India has issued an advisory for passengers and said that passengers must check the status of their flight before leaving for the airport. The company has apologized for the inconvenience due to the weather and has appealed to the passengers to be cautious.
Waterlogging and tree falling incidents
Waterlogging has occurred in many areas of the city, including Sion Circle, Dadar TT, Hindmata, JJ Post Office and Bindumadhav Junction in Worli. A total of 9 incidents of trees and branches falling have been reported to the BMC at 4 places in the city and 5 in the Western Suburbs.
Yellow alert for Mumbai and coastal districts
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for coastal districts including Mumbai, Thane and Palghar. This means that there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rains in these areas, which may affect normal life.
Possibility of lightning and strong winds
There is a possibility of strong sea winds and lightning in coastal areas. The administration has appealed to the citizens to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel.
People were evacuated from weak buildings
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and MHADA have identified 96 dilapidated buildings in the city. These have been categorized as dangerous during monsoon. About 3100 people living in these buildings have been shifted to safer places.
