Generally people think that after divorce alimony is given only to the wife but it is not so. If the wife is earning more money and her salary is more than the husband’s, then in this situation the husband will get the alimony instead of the wife.

The wife is earning more and is able to manage her living easily. Whereas the husband’s income is less and he is not able to manage his living. In such a situation, the court can give a decision to give alimony to the husband after divorce.

According to Section 24 and 25 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, a husband can also ask for alimony or maintenance from his wife. However, to get alimony, he will have to prove that he was dependent on his wife for his livelihood and after divorce his financial condition may deteriorate, due to which he may face difficulties in living.

If the husband is already earning, then in such a situation the demand for alimony can be rejected by the court. However, if the husband’s salary is very low, then the court can order the wife to pay alimony to the husband.
