The census and caste census which was being awaited for a long time in the country is now about to end. It has been announced when the census process will start. The central government has set a program to start counting for the census and caste census from March 1, 2027.
The government has completed preparations for this. However, it will not start from March 1, 2027 in the entire country. There is a preparation to start it first in the states with mountainous and special geographical conditions such as Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal and Uttarakhand. Let us tell you why the census will start first in these states.
Why will the census start earlier
It has been decided to conduct the census first in the four states/union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal and Uttarakhand in view of the weather difficulties and inaccessible areas. The census process in these states will start from 1 October 2026. In a press release issued by PIB, it has been told that when the last census was conducted in the year 2011, the census in these states was conducted between 11 and 30 September 2010, the reference time of which was midnight of 1 October 2010.
What is special in this year’s census?
The census that will be conducted this time is going to be different from other censuses. This time the caste based census which was being demanded for a long time has been implemented. For some time now the opposition parties were demanding caste census which was approved by the central government in April this time. In all the censuses conducted before this, only religion and class were asked about. Apart from this, General, OBC, SC and ST were counted. This time the data will be collected digitally in the census, for this a special kind of portal has been created.
