Credit Card Charge Hike: An important news has come out for the customers of HDFC or ICICI Bank. Both these banks have announced to increase the charges on many of their credit cards and banking services from July 1, 2025. This will affect the pockets of the bank’s customers. Due to this, making payment through credit card may prove to be expensive.

Credit Card Charge Hike: The trend of debit card and credit card has increased rapidly in the country. But now using credit card can be expensive. In fact, major private banks like HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have decided to increase the charges on credit card and banking services from July 1. Both the banks have sent information about these changes to their customers through official notification. HDFC Bank has announced new charges for credit card users, especially for transactions related to online gaming, digital wallet and utility payments.

HDFC Bank has implemented new charges especially for online gaming, digital wallet loading and utility bill payments. If a customer spends more than Rs 10,000 on online gaming platforms like Dream11, MPL, RummyCulture in any month, an additional charge of 1% will be levied on that entire amount. This charge will be limited to a maximum of Rs 4,999 per month. No reward points will be given on online skill based gaming transactions. However, HDFC Bank has clarified that the insurance payment will not be considered as a utility payment. Hence, no additional charges will be levied in such cases.

ICICI Bank

Similarly, ICICI Bank has revised the fees for issuing DD (demand draft), PO (pay order), ATM interchange and transaction, cash transaction and debit card fees. The fee for depositing cash, cheque and transfer of DD and PO has been revised to Rs 2/1,000. It is minimum Rs 50 and maximum up to Rs 15,000. At the same time, ICICI Bank has also increased the fee for transactions at ATM from Rs 21/transaction to Rs 23/transaction after 5 transactions. Currently it is Rs 21. Apart from this, the annual fee of debit card has been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 300, the fee for replacement card has been increased from Rs 200/card to Rs 300/card.
