If you have a flight from Delhi airport next month, then this news is important for you. Actually, the government has started preparations to close one of the four runways of Delhi airport again in mid-June and has instructed the airlines to plan to cancel flights.

According to the Hindustan Times report, officials have given this information citing the discussion held by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu with the airlines on Tuesday.

The first attempt was made in April

According to reports, runway 28/10 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport) needed to be closed to upgrade its landing devices. The government first tried in April but had to cancel it within a month. This led to a chaos of flight schedules. The airport was unable to handle its usual load of about 1,400 flights a day on its three runways.

Second attempt will be from June 15

The government will now make a second attempt from June 15, which will last for 90 days. An official associated with this says that Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu held a meeting with the airlines on Tuesday morning and directed them to start preparing for the runway closure. It is expected to last for about three months. The minister has adopted a proactive approach to avoid a repeat of the situation that arose in the first attempt made in April.

Asked to plan flight cancellation in advance

A second official said the minister has asked airlines to plan flight cancellations in advance to minimise inconvenience to passengers. The official said the aviation minister has asked airlines to propose all possible measures that can be taken to minimise the impact of runway closures on passengers.
