Demat Account Nomination Deadline: The Security and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has extended the deadline for adding a nominee under the Demat account. March 31 was fixed as the last date for adding nominees to Demat account holders.

This meant that from April 1, such account holders could not invest in the stock market, but now SEBI has increased it.

The market regulatory board has extended the demat account deadline for six months. Now demat account holders can complete this work by 30 September 2023. The market regulator has said in its circular issued on March 27 that on the basis of demat accounts with trading in which nomination details have not been updated, they can now get updated by September 30, 2023.

    Deadline has been extended twice

SEBI had earlier extended the deadline for adding nominees from 24 February 2022 to 31 March 2023. Now this deadline has been extended for 6 months. If you do not update the nominee even in the meantime, you may be debarred from investing in the share market. Let us know how you can add a nominee.

How to add nominee in demat account

    • Login to your demat account and click on My Nominee.
    • Now a page will open in front of you to add a nominee.
    • After this you can choose to add a nominee or opt out.
    • Upload the complete details and ID proof of the nominee under the Nominee option.
    • After uploading the document, enter the nominee share percentage, which the investor would like to give to the nominee.
    • Now e-sign the document with Aadhaar OTP.
    • Nominee details will be processed and your nominee will be added.
